Didn’t realise we were in Beach house and rooms only accessible by stairs which was challenging for some of our party. Feel this should have been highlighted on booking! Coffee and tea served too early at breakfast therefore cold when we got cooked part of breakfast

Beds really comfy perfect location Breakfast was nice and freshly cooked

Centrally located, lovely bar but rooms are somewhat disappointing and staff could be friendlier.

The bed in our room was so uncomfortable - it was really disappointing, The mattress was obviously very old, with wires poking into my back. If I had sat on the bed prior to bedtime I would have requested another room but it was 11 pm and I was getting into bed when I noticed that the mattress was terribly uncomfortable. The room actually didn't have the number listed anywhere to ring reception anyway. Additionally, I felt that while the bar and restaurant staff were very nice and helpful, the two ladies who worked on reception were unfriendly and almost rude.

The Marine Hotel is centrally located and close to everything in Ballycastle. There is no free parking with the hotel but there are plenty of places to park in the town. We had breakfast in the restaurant and really enjoyed it. The rooms are spacious and clean. The lobby of the hotel has comfortable sofas to relax in.

The Hall doors in the Beach house slammed hard throughout the day and at night with people going in and out of their rooms. The soft closer seems to be broke. Room had a smashed phone socket in room 303 so no way to contact Reception. We enjoyed our stay still!

The Location is excellent. Nice spacious rooms and nice lobby and bar area. The staff were nice and friendly and the seating outside was a nice area to relax and have a beer. We will be back

So disappointing, had expected a lovely stay and can find nothing positive to say.

The ambience of the hotel is poor right from the start. It is hard to even see the reception as the downstairs of the hotel is also a Costa and is very busy with lots of people most of the day and evening. Hence there is no where quiet place for guests to sit, have a drink and enjoy the lovely location. Whilst we were there there were a number of coach strips were saying, not a problem if the hotel was staffed to deal with them, but they are not. Sadly at breakfast the priority is the coach parties and solo/couple visitors have to wait to be shown to a table, place their orders etc until those on the coach trips have been dealt with. Breakfast was vey disappointing and of average quality. Other hotels on our visit managed this much better. We unfortunately had specific problems with our stay including a bathroom fan that we could not turn off, this was fixed, and a leaking roof in the hall corridor outside our room. The rooms are not inviting, there was a massive bunk bed in our room which was not needed and took up a lot of space. Building works are going on at the hotel, which we were warned of a few days before our arrival but this did not disturb us. We felt that the attitude of the hotel was that it did not have to try and provide a good service because of the lovely location of the hotel and the fact that they are the only larger one in the area.

The location of the hotel is great for Ballycastle and the coast.

the mattress was terrible. felt the springs though body and had to use the pillows from the spare bed to soften. Water dripped through the ceiling lights, then the hallway was pitch black to return to our room. Rooms felt like a painted prison cell.

the lounge area, the breakfast was amazing in flavour and the offerings were excellent. staff couldn’t do enough for us.

The foyer was awful - coming through the door you were presented with a counter selling tea /coffee / cakes and ice cream - I was about to go and look for another door but instead I asked the person behind the counter where the check-in was and she pointed to an insignificant desk in a corner which was check - in! The bar and the dining room are the same room - however you cannot get a drink in the bar unless you eat! To be fair if you sit in the foyer and look thirsty someone will come to you and take a drink order - if you like sitting in the aforementioned foyer. The room was comfortable but a bit faulty towers! Obviously recently re-furbished but it was fairly apparent craftsmen had not been used - as witnessed by the holes in the new tiles which had been drilled in the wrong place and then filled with filler. What I assume were safety chain fitments on the door looked like they were fitted back to front - there was no safety chain! The door frame had not been finished. There were a few others but I will just get very boring! Perhaps I am biased but I knew this hotel in it's heyday!

Breakfast was quite good - however when I asked for an omelette on the second day this was not available despite the fact the cook was available. Had we been staying a little longer breakfast would have become boring!

parking was not included. baths not needed in modern hotels. better shower only. Could not close bathroom door in room 108. No internal lock on room door. No sky sports/tv in bar area to watch popular sport. One of the chefs handled my cooked steak with his bare hands before serving but I think he was replacing it with another but I’m not sure. Restaurant could have more choice, be tastier or more reasonably priced.

    location was excellent.
