Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe downsides were how the floors in the room stayed in (29 -but unknown about other rooms) is not level it actually slants rather steeply underfoot from the window to the room’s entrance, there’s rather a great deal of damage to the flooring boards underneath the thick and old looking carpet en route to the room including steps that feel as though they have broken (especially the first step as you’re going up the small flight to get to the corridor on the same level as the door) and feels as though you could potentially break through this step and areas of the floor en route. Another downside was the bed that was slept in appears or rather feels and sounds to be broken too as laying on it made a hell of a clunking and creaking racket and made both myself and my better half slump deeply to the middle when we embraced one another, neither of us could move without the bed sounding as though Zebedee from the magic roundabout was taking off in quick succession (as if it was going to give way) hearing a massive boing and feeling a hard thump underbody as springs let loose when rolling over. (No this is not due to our weight as we’re both small framed) none the less a good sleep was managed but for people who like comfort in a bed (and quiet comfort at that) this wouldn’t do at all so please be aware of this. I feel as though a way to improve this room (29) would to actually be to add very old fashioned decor and re expose the wall’s original beams (stained dark or painted in black) that are slightly visible behind the white wash walls to give it a near original / very rustic appearance, feel and experience to be able to justify the un-level / slanting floor as this would go in hand for that “original” experience.
The feel when walking around the upper levels as well as the room stayed in really did give a peep into how old the building is and that has character in my eyes. The staff are superb and couldn’t be more helpful and informative, the information booklet that’s been cobbled together and provided in the room was of great assistance and had rather a lot of detail to suit most needs of most clientele, the layout of the dinning area / restaurant looks lovely and again all the staff were of a high caliber and very much approachable.

United KingdomSadly....the bed was tiny! The rest of our stay was faultless, but we are of average size, but our feet dangled from the end of the bed! This made sleeping tricky!
We liked the dining and bar area, safe parking, and fantastic staff who could not have been more helpful! The standard of food served was just amazing! Fresh, good choice of menu, the breakfast was the best we've had!

United KingdomThere wasn't much we didnt like. Bathroom in room could do with refurbishment, as looking quite worn. It was all functional though and all worked, with shower and bath!
We really liked the Hotel Mariners and its location. It is a very old building, so you have to expect everything that comes with that. Yes, it looks a little tiered in places, but we felt this added to the character of a buliding that's lived a life. We both really liked it, it was quaint, but welcoming and staff very friendly. Room was spacious and warm. Food was very good and we recommend the cooked breakfast. Evening bar well patronised by the locals and a very cosy 'pub' feel to it. Parking on site was fine. Also highly recommend the Seven Spice Fun Dinning Indian restaurant, which is a 5 minute walk away, very good, but book if a weekend!

United KingdomA possible entrance from the car park? Instead of having to walk round & getting wet if it's raining/snowing.
The hotel is well located in the center of the town. I was driving, so just followed the post code entered into the satnav & I was there. There seem is one large car park at the rear of the hotel & some on street parking. Checking in was nice & easy. I'd been allocated room 36 which was on the 2 floor. So up the stairs I went. I didn't see a lift. Not saying there isn't one. The room was quite large for one person. It had the usual gadgets you'd expect in a room. Saying that, the TV was rather small. And best viewed from the bed. It had a shower/bath which was ok. The bar/dining room is on the ground floor opposite reception. It's large with plenty of tables to choose from. To save my legs I sat at the bar! Breakfast was a full "Welsh", which was very nice. There are other options available if required. Breakfast was in a different dining area from the bar. Had no problems with wi-fi.

United KingdomNothing!
The character of the property. An old building whose decor created the right ‘feel’; contemporary but subtle, welcoming and comfortable. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant and bar is very well laid out and the food is excellent. The hotel has its own parking, a big plus.
