The children’s menu didn’t really cater for older children, my 9 and 11 year old wanted a more substantial choice. The drink prices were very expensive - £11 for a large glass of wine!!

The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly.

Room had no room makeover after the first day, so the drinks tray was not refreshed with clean cups and tea etc, we had to ask for more tea at reception and this never arrived. We were paying a premier room price for a special occasion and this aspect didn't match that.

Ok the whole the stay was very good and I would stop again however at dinner I had to request for water a further 3 times after originally being asked if I wanted some ( said yes) but then it never came until mid way through the main course ( I had a starter). I also had to ask for mayonnaise for the main twice. When asked if they were understaffed the answer was no just that a lot of people turned up who hadn’t booked so they weren’t expecting them. We could see the waitress moving quickly to help others who also clearly had issues with drinks orders. The food was excellent and arrived in good time. The issue with drinks however did drop the score down.

The history of the property and the setting. Food was excellent!

We had a problem with music , my partner had to go down to reception at 1am as we couldn't get to sleep for it . Turns out it was in reception. Luke turned it down for us so was all quiet then

Location is nice and quiet , well maintained landscape and hotel. Breakfast had a great choice of items and staff friendly and efficient

Evening dinner- waiting time for us and two other families (our friends) was two hours. The food quality - space for improvement. Stake - (3 and 1/2) from 5. The mush-potato arrived completely cold. Other dishes - it's ok for fish and chips shop in Dagenham, but not for this level - top of the range hotel with amazing history and surroundings.

The cleanliness was the key, all surroundings are very well looked after. Amazing hotel history. Stylish hotel, amazing territory.

There’s lack of bar facilities. There’s Tempo bar during the day which was ok but limited drinks menu. The Cast Iron bar had a better drinks menu but was small, service was slow. Cast Iron restaurant had a good menu but there simply weren’t enough waiting staff. Service took a long time and then a service charge was automatically added to the bill. There was not enough staff in the restaurant so it was not the staff’s fault.

Beautiful old buildings, in a lovely countryside setting. The grounds were absolutely stunning. Room was clean and provided everything for the stay. There was even an iron and ironing board.

Service could have been a little better at breakfast. Plates weren't cleared and food ran out very quickly, Hot chocolate wouldn't work in the machine. But this didn't negatively impact our stay.

The reception staff and the restaurant staff very all very friendly. The hotel has great facilities. The hotel and surrounding area is beautiful. Food was fantastic. For the price, the hotel exceeded my expectations.

The receptionist was friendly and informative, so great welcome. The building is maintained, clean and tidy. The staff was really happy ( shows good management) beautiful location. I brought my teenage daughters who enjoyed the facilities. I have a daughter at Uni in Derby so will definitely be looking at staying again.

The shower in the room was slow and not very powerful, it was a shower over the bath and was rather narrow ( I kept banging my arm on the wall when washing my hair). The spa facilities had rules about under 16's not being allowed in the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi, yet there were always children in them and occasionally staff would ask them to get out but only if they were passing.

Beautiful grounds and buildings, plenty of parking. The pool/ spa area was lovely but small and got over crowded. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Rooms were lovely and had everything, including a fan, an ironing board and iron.
