Road noise and broken shelves

The carpets weren't vaccumed , cobwebs in many spots, very thin pillows so needed 2 to 3 for sleeeping!

The meals we ordered at the restaurant were very well presented. The location was good, off the highway , the staff were very pleasant.

This year I booked via Booking.com and didn’t realise that breakfast was not included, whereas in past years it had been. Accordingly, I had to pay separately at the hotel, and thought it was a little pricey overall. It is also a shame that the restaurant is not open in the evening, although we were assured that next year it will be. Having said that, it is an easy walk into town, where there are many places to eat. Unfortunately, this year it was very wet and we didn’t want to drive, so we had to order a food delivery.

We book here every year in July as a stopover before travelling on to Malmesbury early the next morning. The location is very accessible, the room had all we needed, the breakfast was good, and the staff were very helpful (shout out to the guy behind bar and at breakfast). We ordered a delivery takeaway meal, and staff were most helpful in allowing us to eat it in the hotel restaurant (not open in the evening) and provided us with plates, cutlery etc, and even cleared it away for us!

The photographs in its advertising don’t quite match the reality. Upon arrival having travelled and worked all day, I needed to shower & eat. The restaurant however was closed. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was because of the facilities. My second night the restaurant was open. Disappointing meal. The Receptionist was also not very cheerful and not very helpful.

We thought the food was somewhat disappointing, in so far as it looked and tasted as though it was straight out of, e.g. Iceland or Macro. We would have preferred to pay more for something that looked and tasted as though it has been cooked from fresh ingredients by a chef, rather than preprepared, stored and chilled prior to cooking.

The setting is lovely. The staff pleasant and helpful. The bed was comfortable. The price was fair.
