Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI booked into the Mayfair but was actually given a room across the street in a completely different building called Park Lane which was fine but not really what I was expecting.
Location and parking were good.

United KingdomGood location. Friendly staff and accommodating. Lovely room spacious and didn't feel cramped when sleeping and getting ready to go out. I come with my husband and my brother. We all loved it and the beds were comfortable. We've booked again for next month and months following and requested the same room. Perfect for our needs.

AustraliaFor starters we didn’t stay at the Mayfair but across the road at parklane. I received no notification that this change had occurred. I received an email from Kathy when I asked about how we get in and she said go across the road. When we got across the road that’s where David met us and said we were staying here. This accommodation is more like a hostel than a guest house. Make sure you view the new room before signing in!! Our new room was so small that we asked for a bigger room and we received this room. If there are no rooms at the Mayfair. Please take it off booking.com
Only 10 minute walk to the city or bus stop out the front. The chap called David was incredibly helpful and lovely

United KingdomSoundproofing between rooms was poor, which was a problem as another group came in late to the neighbouring room, woke us up, and kept being intermittently noisy for a while. Too warm overnight and no temperature controls.
Basic but clean & comfortable. Everything worked as it should. Fairly priced.

GreeceNarrow hallways; kitchen without a sink; our room was directly visible from the adjacent staircase, so we had to keep the drapes on.
Located on a main street with frequent bus connection. Cozy interior.

United KingdomA review for Park Lane NOT Mayfair! Reading more reviews today...does the Mayfair Guest House ever host anyone or does everyone get a message on the day of arrival, stating that they have to go opposite instead? - Hostel-like with paper-thin partition walls. - All doors were heavy & fire compliant, although I'm not sure how we'd escape the property from the upstairs bedroom if the landing was blocked with fire/people or both?*wherever I go, this a personal anxiety of mine. - The downstairs, back of property, communal kitchen/dining area has no sink & therefore no drinking tap water or way of washing anything. Although, the host did say to just leave anything that needed washing. - It would have been a nice touch to have had the option to fill our bedroom kettle with maybe 1 complimentary bottle of water (alongside tea/coffee sachets) or to just simply have a glass of drinking water after a long journey because only bathroom sink water was to hand. I was too exhausted after 5 hours of coach travel to search for a local shop, late evening, in an unknown area & packing a bottle(s) beforehand, had I have known about the lack of drinking water prior to travel, would have been too heavy to carry, alongside luggage! This wasn't a case of "you get what you pay for", for me personally. £80 per night seemed quite steep for our basic twin room (in the end transferred to the PARK LANE sister accommodation opposite & last minute?) I'm guessing room prices were increased due to the University Open Day in the city? Still, we made the most of laying our heads here after 2 long days exploring Cardiff. Myself & daughter absolutely loved Cardiff - it's history, the University, the transport, the nightlife & it's very friendly people! :-)
I liked the location with bus stop opposite. Property was a 25 min. walk to Cardiff centre. Staff were friendly. CCTV/cameras were dotted around & this was great for both customer & host safety.
