How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

As we are boyh cooks, perhaps more cutlery and metal utensils...a lot were plastic.This was not a real problem!!

Situated in a lovely village but not far from shops etc in the car. Chalet was very well furnished and everything worked without issue. Hosts were lovely.

we had an amazing stay. the cottage has absolutely everything you could need to be comfortable. the hosts are very caring and kind. the location is dreamy, about 30 minutes from Inverness and 10 from Nairn, both beautiful locations, and on a peaceful beautiful area in the countryside. the bed must be one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in. everything was absolutely fantastic!

Great location and facilities. Good folder with lots of information on where to go and what to see. Good choice of books, board games etc. Lovely local pub serving great food.

Unfortunately there wasn’t a window in the bedroom, so it lacked light. We visited at start of summer so the room was stuffy and warm at night even with the on suit bathroom window open. A fan is within the property and this did help. The only other frustration was a lack of sharp knives and scissors. Neither of these issues negatively impacted our stay.
The property was welcoming and inviting, good layout and spacious for a couple. The bed was comfortable, cleanliness was good and a lovely basket of goodies was provided on arrival. The property had everything we needed and more. The owner was extremely kind and helpful. The location was beautiful and quiet. The available wifi in the property was strong.

The location is very quite, not far from Nairn and supermarket. Only 20 minutes to the airport and half that to the beach.

Location was excellent to get to many of the key Highlands places to see, parking was easily accessible and amenities were very close by. The accommodation was quiet and luxurious.

Our hosts Wonda and Steve were lovely, always there when you needed them but not intrusive. Wonda was there to greet us on arrival. Took the time to show us around to where everything was. Also helped show our girls how to set up their beds. There was also a welcome hamper basket and some milk and butter in the fridge to help get us started before getting a shop, which was only 5-10mins away. Lovely central point to all the surrounding attractions. Beautiful specious property for a family of four. Had everything that you would have in your home. Kitchen dinning area good size with full kitchen equipment. Great sized living room with plenty of seating and the lovely homely touches. Two of the sofa chairs fold out into beds, which were comfortable. The bedroom is a good size with bedroom furniture and comfy bed. The bathroom is good size too with a fantastic shower. There is also a lovely decking seated area outside. We loved everything with our stay.

We were very happy with everything that was available.

It was exactly what we were looking for. Sofabed in front room will suit a light person or a child!
Wanda & Steve are great hosts! They greeted us upon arrival, provided some wonderful local delicacies and were always available if we had any questions. We were able to use Meadows 2 as a base to visit several beaches including Findhorn & Nairn and also head north into Sutherland (e.g Dornoch & Brora) ideal for remote coastal walks & atmospheric pub restaurants. The one-bed holiday home, is 30 mins from Inverness, it has proper weighty furniture e.g. comfortable sofas, large TV, a fully kitted out kitchen, modern waterfall shower and good WiFi. Basically an elegantly designed home from home with South African flourishes!

Great quiet location, lovely chalet. Everything you need supplied by the owners. Friendly caring hosts Steve & Wanda. We could not fault our stay. Welcome pack included essentials milk, bread, butter etc.

Absolutely no dislikes!
Location was excellent a local pub and restaurant within walking distance. Supermarket a 5 min drive. Spectacular scenery. As I told the hosts myself and partner will certainly be back. We miss the dogs already!!
