Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere is no fridge or safe in the room.
Lovely green location. The room was very comfortable especially the bed. A little dated but still wonderful. The tea and coffee making facilities were good and I was provided with extras when I ashed. The bathroom was very comfortable with twin sinks, a fabulous bath and lovely bathroom products. Bath robes were also provided. Plenty of wardrobe space.

United KingdomThe room was good size and appointed (ST Simon) but the floor boards were loose about 1.5m into the room which was unnerving and could wake up potential customers in the rooms below when walking across. So these would need fixing. The bath had a large amount of limescale as was the chrome shower handles, again this wouldn't take 5 minutes to clean and this would have given the atmosphere to a relaxing bath, but one look you wouldn't.
Breakfast was ok but plate was luke warm , beans were so watery and tepid at best, that i didn't eat them . In a hurry so didn't complain. Staff were so good though, for service and attention from directions to ordering a cab.

United KingdomBedroom was 'tired' and a little dated. Some soft furnishings were 'worn out' and in need of replacement. Air con in the summer consisted of a large window only, which if left open at night - anyone could climb through (Ground floor room). Breakfast was 'simple'. Staff inexperienced. Tables 'sticky' - always a bit of a give a way. Generally the buildings were tired/dilapidated and in need of attention.
Location was good - v good for the general area. Small B&B. Not at all busy. Comfortable room and bathroom. Quiet.

United KingdomSome facilities are a bit dated (e.g. bidet in the bathroom did not work, and one of the taps was a bit "temperamental"), but it arguably adds to the charm of the property a bit
Awesome location. Ability to freely walk around the large and beautiful grounds.

AustraliaDifficulty finding the property and registration desk. Postcode given took us to the wrong entrance. Poor communication as to directions. The restaurant was not open on the 3 days we were there - very disappointing! This was not communicated to us when we arrived and was incorrectly advertised on the website as being open. Walking to the golf club for breakfast was not ideal. No proper air conditioning in our room. Furnishings were ‘tired’ and need replacing. No fridge, 2 tea bags for 3 nights. Towels not replaced on one day and reception could not help with that so had to wait until the next day. Asked for extra teabags but they didn’t arrive.
The surrounding landscape including the golf course was attractive. Cafe staff were mostly satisfactory (but not friendly).

United KingdomThick duvet in middle of summer led to a bit of an uncomfortable and broken nights sleep. For an overnight stay it was a bit isolated so would say more geared towards couples & golfing stays rather than a stop over for business travellers.
Large spacious room, accomodation was set in a tranquil of the golf course. Staff really pleasant and helpful.

United KingdomThe plumbing isn't great, and as I said previously very stuffy. I think the advert should recommend only as a golf lodge.
The room was Beautiful, but the windows did not open and there was no ventilation, so was very stuffy. Also very hard to find the Lodge as there was no proper sign post especially after dark. The staff were very kind . I wouldn't stay again but if you like Golf it would be ideal.

United KingdomThe only unfortunate thing about this trip was that we were unable to go into the actual hall where my mum was born, as there was a film crew there. Very disappointed even though the reception team did try their best to see if this could be made possible.
Beautiful location with gorgeous views across the lake and beyond. Stayed at Brockett Hall with my mum for her birthday, as this is where she was born when it was a maternity hospital during the second world war. The room in Melbourne Lodge was lovely and spacious and nicely decorated with a huge bathroom. Reception staff were brilliant. Friendly and very helpful.

United KingdomMelbourne Lodge is advertised as wheelchair accessible but we experienced difficulty with this, although the staff were very helpful and did all they could to remedy the problems (eg the ramp could not be found etc). The carpet in one of the rooms was very badly stained and the rooms were very hot.
Melbourne Lodge is in a lovely setting and the staff were all very helpful. The restaurant was very good. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were decorated nicely but everything is rather shabby and needs refreshing.
