The road noise, closing the window didn't help much, probably need new ones, luckily I always have earplugs, problem solved 😉

The friendliness of the hosts, they were helpful and very pleasant, nothing was too much trouble, food was excellent and plentiful, served hot! Views over Hope Valley were amazing, lovely Inn with character, a good atmosphere.

No WiFi and only a couple of accessible plugs in the room neither were near the bed. Also may have been because of the time of year but it was incredibly hot in the room, it seemed to retain the heat and I think there is a hot water pipe running along the wall which meant it was still hot at night.

Location is great, loads of places to go on walks nearby. Food was great too and the pub was a really nice place to relax in the evenings.

Unfortunately it was a bit tired and run down. We loved the traditional feel but there were a few repairs that needed doing and just overall freshen up would make it so much nicer. Our wardrobe door was broken, huge crack in the ceiling on the kids bedroom (family room) and the shower (although a lovely modern bathroom) didn’t drain properly so we had to cut showers short to allow to drain as it would have flooded the bathroom if we didn’t. Such a potential to be so much better. Considering the past few years and how business are still recovering I hope the owners manage to get the small bits done to make it lovely which is why we didn’t complain as we understand this. Wishing the owners all the best.

Towels and bedding were immaculate. Fluffy and good quality. Beds were really nice and comfy and pillows were lovely and soft. Breakfast was very nice and staff were friendly. The outdoor area looked really nice and inviting but we didn’t get chance due to a tight schedule. The views were beautiful! Lots of car parking space too. We didn’t take our dog but it was perfect for dog walkers as we saw lots of happy dog owners with their doggos.

The hotel is in a small village, perfect if you just want some nice walks and a good pub meal. Others may want to be closer to areas of the Peak District with more to do.

Great service; we hadn't booked a table for evening meal but the manager was still able to fit us in at short notice despite the pub being very busy. The food was beautiful (we ate breakfast and evening meal here). Spacious bathroom, great shower and a very comfortable bed.

I had the misfortune to miss the last step coming down the stairs and landed up flat on my face on the floor. Fortunately no serious injuries. I can't explain exactly how it happened but I noticed that the last step is narrower than the rest of the flight. Perhaps there should be a white edge to the last step, it might prevent similar accidents

Cooked breakfast was good. Other items limited in range eg no muesli or sugar free cereal.

The room felt a little worn and you could hear people in the hall very clearly due to a gap under door. Road outside was loud.

The team were incredibly friendly and it was so dog friendly. We hadn't been told there was a charge for our dog to stay but the man very kindly charged us for one night instead of 2. Breakfast was tasty.

One thing which would have really helped us additionally was if we had acces to a charging point for our EV. EVs are becoming more and more popular and finding a charging point was quite stressful in the whole area around. I spent a few late nights just to have enough charge for my trip back home. There was a Wifi issue in the inn too. We managed to rely on our mobile phone data packages but for international travellers that might be an issue. Will be great to get that fixed too.

The breakfast served was very good and the coffee was amazing. The manager and chef was really amazing. Gave us personal attention especially for the allergy conditions we had. He and his staff made us feel very welcome all the time we were in the inn and the restaurant.

The pub is very close to the main road and our room became very hot and airless during the night as forced to sleep with the windows shut to keep the noise out.

Rather short staffed but Ian and Marie couldn't have been more kind and helpful. Hot water was boiling and an excellent shower. Cooked breakfasts very good and served on properly hot plates.

There has been a change in the management team since our last stay and levels of service/hospitality and cleanliness have suffered. Some staff are great and friendly, but others not so much (seemed like they didn't want to be there). It is disappointing that food is only served until 8pm and the bar closes at 10pm - after you have been out for the day this doesn't allow you much time to relax. Staff and the general atmosphere towards 10pm made you feel almost like you were imposing. General cleanliness was poor - the carpet in the public areas did not look to have been hoovered for our entire 4 night stay, there were glasses and rubbish left around the outdoor seating and car park for the whole time, and a bulb flashed and needed replacing in the bar for 2 days. It seemed no attention was afforded to these public areas.

We have stayed here on two previous occasions, hence a return visit. We returned due to the location, it being dog friendly and good value for money. There are lovely walks from the door and it is close to most places in the Peaks. The quality of the food is good but limited in choice.

The bedding had a couple of stains on it and there were a lot of unfinished holes in the room. Lots of sockets only they do not work so had to charge my phone across the other side of the room which is not good when you set an alarm. The TV remote battery back was missing and there was only one toilet roll provided in the room.

The breakfast was beautifully cooked however, I think that you should never ever serve half a slice (round) of black pudding. That is like serving half an egg. For the price of room including breakfast I think there should have been a little bit more, but it was delicious and well cooked and the staff couldn't be more lovely. Lovely atmosphere.
