Last time I stayed the food was great, but on this occasion it was poor both in the evening and at breakfast. I had fish and chips in the evening - fish was overcooked, batter was solid, and it was mostly batter with very little fish, chips were lovely though. Breakfast was disappointing, especially as it was delivered to order rather than from a buffet. Menu mentioned croissants, but there were none. Waitress then told another couple that they were available on request. Toaster was on the wrong settings so bread was either untoasted on the first go, and burnt on the second. Nobody wants parsley on their baked beans!

Unfortunately, we arrived to find we couldnt use the bar, restaurant or grounds due to a wedding. We were therefore confined to our room so decided to go to the local pub. We only got to see the main hotel for 8 minutes when we arrived early for breakfast.

The room was cute, comfy and cosy with a door out onto a lovely little section of garden.

Had a few events on so was never able to go to the bar however there is a pub 10 minute walk up the road.

Perfect location to stay a weekend whilst visiting family. Breakfast was perfect.

the fitness centre was not a fitness centre. It had 2 machines and the free weights skipped from 2kg straight up to 15, not a lot can be done with this. The hotel was advertised as having a restaurant. I was seated in the hallway not even the bar as it was full and the food wasn't very good.

Letting you know in advance where room F50 was as virtually all rooms were on the left hand side yet this room was on the right and not obvious. The shower head had clearly not been cleaned for a long while as the spray was a dribble and with a vigorous rub the flow was improved. It quickly seemed obvious that a staff member was absent at breakfast at 08.00 and that some parts were not ready and there was quite a large number of people present at opening time. The chef did an excellent jib but at 8,10 there was still no fruit out. Attention to detail could make this an excellent hotel but it was not my experience on this occasion

The bedrooms are a little difficult to find in the complicated layout of the old building. Also the carparks are a bit difficult to find in the dark although signposted. My mattress was uncomfortable. I wished I had more time to explore the grounds.

This was a convenient location for an evening meeting nearby. A very interesting old building with lovely parkland. Good breakfast was included in the price.
