Someone smoked in the bathroom, so it smelled a bit. There was just one bathroom for a few rooms.

My room was spacious and the heating was on all the time, so it was warm. Overall I didn't expect much, just basic accommodation, and it met my expectations.

When we arrived,it was no water in bathroom,any in shower or sink.One shower for at least 6 rooms! Dirty toilet ,full bin of toilet paper 😟I preferred to use wet wipes.Somebody was smoking in room, smelled not nice.No towels at all

The bathroom wasn't in great shape - the toilet was pretty unclean and the shower was broken.

I booked based on price and I got what I paid for. There were no frills like towels, but I needed a bed for the night and there was one. The guy whose house the room is in seemed very friendly.

Was advertised as a hotel and in the city centre, was actually a house renting rooms and an hour outside the city centre. Ended up missing the concert I was in manchester to see as misleading information had me looking for the wrong thing. Would be nice to put up a sign outside the property.

I would have liked to know that this is a family house, not a hostel, before I booked. Not very clean, the floor in my room was filthy and all the surfaces were very dusty. Check-in and check-out times are not flexible at all. Asked if I could leave the bags until 11 and they said they'd charge me for late check-out. There is a school across the road. The sound insulation is really bad, woke up at 7am to slamming doors.

One bathroom that was absolutely disgusting. Poo all over the toilet. One shared hand towel. Absolutely disgusting everywhere needed cleaning. No excuse to be dirty. Didn’t even stay we left.

Only good thing was the fact you had a roof over your head.

I arrived in the night and it was difficult to identify the house as it is not labelled visibly and it was also dark outside. I only knew when I entered the enclosed front garden and saw the house number labelled on bins. There is no reception so there was no answer when I knocked the front door. I then called the number found at bookings.com and someone came to let me in promptly. The house smells cigarette. In the bedroom no wardrobe and hangers, no tv, no provision to make tea, no desk. There are 3 floors and there is only one toilet/shower on the first floor for at least 6 rooms. I woke up in the morning and there was somebody in there; I waited for 20 minutes and gave up. So I had to leave without using the toilet, washing my face or brushing my teeth. No soap or towels provided. My booking of this place was a mistake. If I had read reviews I would not have booked. I just didn’t expect there are places like that so I was naive. Oh and it was difficult to close my room door without it banging and squeaking; not fitted properly. I am not trying to discourage people from going there but it is just not for me.

The room was big with 2 double beds though I only needed one. There was free on-street parking. I had a key and could go in and out at anytime.

It was difficult to find the property, I called the number which was mentioned on booking.com and they didn’t pick up, but a person did come after 5 mins to open the door when we arrived at the property. No key was handed or told how to enter the property if we leave for a walk, no WiFi instructions were given even though the WIFI accessibility is mentioned on booking.com of the Monarch House, there was no access to the kitchen and the kitchen was locked! The room and bathroom was not cleaned, there were many little pieces of woods on the ground. The bed was uncomfortable, the room door made a lot of noices when we opened or closed it. The owner didn’t answer any question through booking.com. We booked the place for 2 nights but eventually we only stayed for 1 night. I would not recommend to stay at Monarch House.

No toiletries! No toilet paper! we arrived after midnight with no chance to buy anything! The shower did not work.. the smell was awful, as this is on top of a butcher shop. The place has never been cleaned, was full of spiders!

I would only stay in a place like this if I don't have any other option... No toilet paper, only one bathroom for more than 12 people! not clean at all, no change of sheets from the previous guests. No kitchen... the host misstarted us and charged us 20 pounds for just arriving early. This place does not follow any decent room standard.. I seriously think this listing should be deleted!
