Absolutely wonderful country stay, nothing negative.

Set down a country lane in the middle of a sheep field, Monkstadt's history, decor and welcoming dog Henrick will steal your heart. When we arrived, the kind Ela welcomed us at the front door, as if we were family members coming to stay at her country home. We stayed in Flora #3, at the top of the home, and had multiple windows that overlooked the sheep (and their baby lambs!) in the yard behind, with the ocean a bit beyond that. There are only a few rooms in the hotel itself, which is impeccably clean and charming, with a few private stand-alone cottages dotting the property as well. You honestly feel like you're walking into the home during the 1745 time period, back to when the Chief of the Clan McDonald lived there. Take some time to read the in-room binder with all of the fascinating history surrounding the home. Absolutely do not skip out on dinner. Do not. The five-course menu melted in our mouths. Everything was perfect. We truly felt like we were sharing dinner with the other guests instead of sitting in a room together. You watch out the window as the sheep and lambs play in the fields, the sun setting behind them. We took coffee and a dram in the library room and were delighted to have the fireplace and old chairs to ourselves. Overall, this is a five-star stay with delightful food and a fantastic location. Plan your day to also see the Fairy Glen around when you check-in as it is a very short drive from here!

Had a fantastic stay at Monkstadt 1745. The room and the whole property were beautifully decorated, and the bed was one of the comfiest I have ever stayed in. My husband and I had the seven course taster menu, which was amazing. The location is stunning, and as we were part way through courses, the chef stalled everything for us while we went outside to see the most fantastic sunset. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay perfect.

the host miscommunicated the dinner availability so we were not able to eat dinner. this was a challenge as there are very few options within a 30 min drive.

The breakfast was lovley fresh and was made to order plenty on offer Most of all I liked the history behind the property it was a fantastic extra to know it’s history and the room went way above my expectations very luxurious the location was very peaceful just what we wanted Would say you must have a car as location remote would highly recommend this property and a shout out to hendrick the dog

For sure the best experience during our tour in Scotland. Great value for money. Fantastic place and staff. The room have a micro fridge with water and even a small bottle of fresh milk. Slippers available. Fantastic breakfast and dinner. The proof that it’s possible to offer a fantastic staying without ripping the tourist of.

They were suffering from lack of staff. The menu was the same the both days and they don’t have a lot of vegetarian or vegan options as a such, however you can ask the chef to change or prepare something different according to you diet requirements.

The history of the house, amazing views and nice and comfortable beds, nice excellent service and friendly staff. Ella was amazing and made our stay lovely.

The rooms are beautiful and staff were very friendly and Accomodating We felt like we were in 17th century Scotland We had a whiskey by the fireplace in the evening and it was comfy and cosy and just magical Anyone wanting an authentic stay should definitely book here.

Wonderful location, comfortable, clean and the restaurant so good we ate there every evening ! Staff were superb & looked after us so well .. Aleks was a standout.
