Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe parking not being on site was a bit annoying. But local parking was £20 for 3 days so wasn't too badly priced.
The property was clean and warm. Everything you needed such as condiments etc were there to be used. The sound system was amazing. Beds were comfortable. Great location for walking to local shops/pubs

United KingdomWHEN BOOKING I DID NOT REALISE THE STAIRS TO UPPER MEZZANINE WERE STEEP GALLEY STAIRS. I FOUND THESE VERY DIFFICULT TO NEGOTIATE AS HAVE ARTHRITIS IN MY KNEES. I MANAGED THE FIRST SET OF STAIRS FROM GROUND TO MIDDLE FLOOR. THIS WAS ENTIRELY MY FAULT BUT FEEL THE ACCOMODATION WOULD SUIT YOUNGER PERSONS ESPECIALLY AS THE BATHROOM IS ON THE GROUND FLOOR WITH MAIN BEDROOM ON 2ND FLOOR
LOCATION VERY GOOD. QUIET BUT WITH EASY ACCESS TO TOWN AND EATERIES EVERYTHING WE NEEDED FOR OUR STAY WITH LOTS OF EXTRAS. LIGHT AND AIRY ACCOMODATION. VERY CLEAN EXCELLENT ACCOMODATION FOR YOUNGER PERSONS AND FAMILIES EASY ACCESS TO DROP OFF CASES AT HOUSE AND TO PARK IN LOCAL CAR PARK ( APPROX 75 METRES) AWAY FOR 3 DAYS AT REDUCED RATE, LOTS OF GOOD LOCAL PRODUCE AND SUPERMARKETS

United KingdomThe absence of private parking on site is always inconvenient but weekly public parking is available nearby for £36. One of the stairways is very steep for anyone with mobility problems.
The apartment is very well equipped and comfortable. Ulverston is a nice market town with a tradition shopping experience and lots of eating options.

United KingdomThe stairs to mezzanine level were very narrow and steep and of a cabin design (half step) which wasn’t reflected in photos or property description. Being an older lady with back problems I did find them a bit of a challenge and actually fell and broke my toe. I think perhaps a short narrative in description or a photo of the stairs to highlight this would be beneficial for others.
Great location and beautifully finished property. Completely hassle free check in/out. Loads of essential supplies readily available and surprisingly spacious interior. Super comfy beds and sofas. Parking wasn’t a problem for us. there are plenty of car parks a short distance from property, always spaces available and reasonably priced. Loads of great eateries close by too.

United KingdomThere was a lot of dust as if no one as dusted in there for quite some time , and a lot of cob webs , the stairs to the bedroom are a little tricky and narrow ,
Location was very good , town was just five mins walk with shops ,restuarants and pubs , the cottage was very well equipped , car park was five mins away and exceptionally cheap . The shower is a power shower and gets hot very quickly , surround sound speakers and all the cleaning stuff is provided even toilet rolls , bed linen , towels , clean sheets and duvet covers are also left in the cupboards if you need them . The radiators are brilliant floor to ceiling high . Well worth every penny .

United KingdomAs a few other folks have said, the stairs to the mezzanine bedroom are a little on the steep side, but totally part of the charm of the property.
Moss Tarn is a lovely property that is finished to a very high standard with all mod cons and a great stock of everything you need in the kitchen. We made use of the walk maps and local info that is in the well stocked bookcase. The property is just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ulverston and other local attractions. We really enjoyed our stay.
