Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe heating was on full blast during a rather warm December. The breakfast was badly made and there was nothing in the line of a continental. The brown armchairs in the bar and sitting room area and dining chairs are souless and horrible to sit on.
The staff were all lovely Most of the decor was pleasant and in keeping with the age of the building. Our room was lovely, with 2 windows and an enormous bathroom.

United KingdomMattress was awful. You can see the dips on either side where it has sank and you could feel every single spring. Both of us had bad backs the next day. Needs replacing as soon as possible. Also no microwave as shown in the photos.
Very big cottage yet living room area felt really cosy. Very clean throughout. Nice to have a dishwasher too! Netley Hall grounds were lovely and cottages were far enough away from the main building so there was minimal noise considering there was a large wedding on when we stayed!

United KingdomThe pillows in both rooms were very thin - thank goodness they supplied 4 per bed - but even then I thought about asking for extras. WiFi is patchy at best, and non-exitstent in some areas. The dining rooms are lit very brightly, and so lack atmosphere. The bar has horrible cheapo "grey" - and very dim - lighting which makes it (sadly) an unpleasant place to be. A very easy fix with better lightbulbs, and a nice standard lamp or two. Food and drinks were really nice, and decent quantities, but we felt they were overpriced for what you got.
We stayed in two different rooms, over two nights. Huge rooms, a beautiful building with a real "wow" factor. The "superior king room" with the private pool and jaccuzzi were really special - absolutely enormous. The staff were all very polite, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was fine, but nothing to get excited about. The hotel is set in some nice grounds, worth a 15-minute walk around. Very peaceful.

United KingdomIt’s a bit tired in places but typical of this type of accommodation. It doesn’t detract from the enjoyment.
Loved the building and the setting. Room and bathroom were big, bath especially so. Breakfast excellent.

United KingdomIt did feel a bit sparse, the lighting was poor, maybe a couple more lamps in the lounge would have helped. There is no full length mirror, or a mirror where the decent light to do your make up. Could have done with a mirror in the bathroom.
The main house looked very grand. The cottage was spacious

United KingdomA lot of updating has already been undertaken. It is a wedding venue and accordingly a lot of effort has gone into the public areas and dining rooms. Some small points: the lighting in the bar is very subdued, too much so for our liking, and the mirrors in our room were set too high for smaller people! The coffee machine at breakfast was a bit of a challenge...
Lovely building, large room and bathroom, very good evening meal and breakfast. The chef clearly knows what they are doing. Beautiful setting in large estate, well-appointed outdoor sitting and eating areas, good parking.

United KingdomLighting in the bar was too subdued. Used to be the billiards room, they've kept the atmosphere as such but the central table lighting is ok for a billiards table but not for the bar. Just my thoughts and it's only a minor detail. Doesnt detract from the ambience of the hotel as a whole. Just bring the lighting up a bit. Us oldies cant read the menu in the dark.
Arrived in the evening lovely welcome from staff. Entrance hall had amazing chandelier and stained glass ceiling. We had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. Encrusted lamb to start and steak for main. Waiter was attentive and first class. Thankyou. Breakfast was delayed longer than normal, 40 mins, but was excellent when it arrived. Rooms are huge beds very comfortable. Lovely place. Excellent value.

DenmarkThe rooms had a state of disrepair. One of the radiators was very hot and could not be turned down as the regulator had fallen off. We could only open one window. The others appeared to be painted shut which is also a safety issue. Several pieces of furniture lacked some of the handles. The cold water tap was loose and so was the door handle. A large part of the grounds were inaccessible due to a wedding the next day which reduces the overall experience. It was a very short walk. A full carpet in the bathroom is unsanitary.
The house is beautifully situated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice. The overall level of cleanliness was high.

Australiathe internet was not working in the cottage when we arrived I had to go all the way back to the reception to tell them as there was no phone signal so I could phone, about 2 hours later maintenance showed up and fixed it. The bed was not very comfortable very lumpy mattress . The last day we were there we had no TV reception even after maintenance came to look at it. It was still not working 24 hours later when we left.
It is in a nice and quiet. There was plenty of room the lounge area and bedroom were very large. The heating was good the whole cottage was kept nice and warm.
