How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Simon and Cathy could not have been more easy going and hospitable. I needed a couple of stress-free days and they went out their way to help me find them. I'd recommend No4 to anyone.

The hospitality was great, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable during our stay. The breakfast was lovely and they could cater to my dietary requirements as well. Will definitely be back to stay!!

there was nothing not to like.
Breakfast excellent, great hosts Simon & Cathy. Nothing was to much trouble for them, good local knowledge and great location, and would reccomend No4 Portpatrick Bnb to others.

I thought I was locked in one night but the host came to my rescue and it was simply a stiff door!
A great place to stay with friendly hosts and a lovely room. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Good breakfasts and dog friendly. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Couldn't always park outside the B&B, but there was free parking a short walk away.
We had an excellent full English breakfast. The location was very good, just a short walk to the harbour front, where there was a good choice of hostelries making home cooked food.

No. 4 is a lovely homely place, everything you need, bed is brilliant, shortbread amazing. Breakfast well this was fantastic. Nothing is a problem for the hosts. Will definitely return. Highly recommend.

One tiny point. Curtains would have made a big difference. The blinds let in a lot of light.
Simon and Cathy were perfect hosts- very friendly but not intrusive. Breakfast was well cooked with good choices. Our bedroom had a clear view of the sea. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedding. The shower room was small but it was perfectly formed. The shower was a good size and was spotless. We really enjoyed our stay and will be recommending the bnb to friends and family.

Simon and Cathy are the perfect hosts, they provided a very clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was a superb cooked meal. They are very dog friendly. Couldn't have asked for more

Nothing, loved our stay.

It was a fantastic place to stay, hosts couldnt do enough. Great room, very clean and great choices for breakfast. Really nice that it was one one big table for breakfast, so all the guests chatted which made it really relaxed.

Can’t fault anything what so ever.
Simon and Cathy couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay in Portpatrick was comfortable from start to finish. The location was beautiful and we had a lovely room with sea view (room 1). Facilities were fantastic, and a lovely breakfast was provided. We slept like logs in the most comfortable super king sized bed. Tea/coffee making facilities were very good and topped up every day. Fridge was provided downstairs and fresh milk was plentiful. Shower room was lovely (en-suite) with plenty of hot water and fresh towels provided every day. This was the first time we took our little cocker spaniel (Tilly) away on holiday and we were a little apprehensive as to how she would settle, but she was absolutely fine. We didn’t want to leave her in our room when we went down to breakfast, however, Simon and Cathy were so good with her and she was welcomed into the dining room at breakfast too!

Nothing. except had to do battle with TV with free view box. There is a intermitant problem.
The owners live in and breakfast excellent and thet did it at 8.00 to accomidate us. everything was excellent. could asj for nothing more.

There was nothing we didn’t like
The accommodation exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was only a short walk from the harbour, shore and nearby restaurants/ cafes.The property was located in a quiet area with roadside parking available. The breakfast was superb and filling. However, the most important feature of our stay was the owners who we found to be exceptionally pleasant and we enjoyed the many conversations we had with them. We look forward to returning sometime in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation.
