Staff on reception were a little unhelpful but it was more down to a language barrier and they didn't understand what I meant (when asking about opening times of pool and if you get a towel provided by the spa department for a swim)

The location was brilliant and the grounds are lovely, the hotel was nice but tired in places even though you can tell it's recently been done

The gym was closed on the Sunday so we could only use the facilities on the Saturday.

The room was very spacious, and clean and even though the hotel told us there could be noise in the evening, we didn't hear anything. The spa Facilities are great and really make a difference to the stay. Good Location if you need to be close to the motorway.

The bar in blackness at 1030 . Very quiet Thurs night. 🤫

The hotel I stayed in it 17 years ago. Its pretty much the same so they are doing a big 2m refurb. The swimming pool was great and thermal suite but looking forward to seeing the refurb . Staff not really informative at reception on the first 2 nights and some of the restaurant staff a little stand off ish !! Day 2 breakfast was great plus all staff including the lovely Fatima on reception rectified my bill. Nice food and good selection all around. It was in the middle of refurb so I take it its not running as expected. Thanks

Asked for instant coffee for room as didn't get refreshed... reception huffed and puffed when I asked for some. Went for breakfast, old man wanted some help, lady serving there also huffed and puffed and helped him begrudgingly. Ordered room service, got told about 5£ charge after I ordered creating pressure for me to accept it. Asked if I could pay by cash through phone in room for room service, got hung up on so had to ask at reception. Ordered room service, over charging ... charge 14£ for 1 half of a puked pork roll. £6 for tomato soup and quarter of a roll... was madness . £5 for a coffee? Jeez also not a lot of plugs in room

Loved the rooms, very clean and comfy bed . Loved the ground the whole site looked beautiful! Didn't use the pool but looked lovely. Some staff were good.

The staff seemed quite moody whenever we asked for extra towels or when we went down to breakfast! A lot of huffing and eye rolling! Find it very unprofessional! I'd also have liked milk alternative options in the rooms for tea!

The pool, sauna and jacuzzi were amazing! The rooms were clean and tidy!

The food. I had the pork belly meal and although it tasted really nice, it was a very very small portion for the price (£25) I only got a small piece of pork belly. One (yes one!) small roast potato. Three tiny little carrots and a mountain of water cress. It did not fill me up at all. My partner had the fish and chips and although hers was a good size the fish batter was soggy as if the oil had not been hot enough to cook it properly. And because of that the oil seemed to have turned the cod a greasy yellow. Overall, very disappointed with the food for the price it cost.

The spa and room were really nice.

Explained when I arrived that I had just completed the Manchester marathon and I was intending to spend the day in the spa relaxing (the only reason we booked this hotel was to use the spa facilities) asked if we could use it extended the following day as it was already late by the time we were checked in and they said it was fine. When we went down in the morning we were advised that we were not allowed to go as it was nearing 12pm checkout time. If I knew this was going to be a problem I wouldn’t have used this hotel as paying £90 for the room only on a random Sunday without being able to use the spa just wasn’t great for us.

The hand soap in the room was empty. My seven year old daughter ordered pasta from the children’s menu and the sauce was very spicy, not suitable for children. The child swim lane was too small and should have been half the pool not 1/3.

Friendly helpful staff. The room was clean and facilities were good.

Directions to disabled parking. We saw the wheelchair sign only after climbing the hill. On the little hill from the car park there was only space for one car to drive down indicated down, if we had known that 2-way traffic was allowed, it would have saved me painful climb up the reception from the lower car park. Our room was rather a long way from dining and reception and after a long day, for me there was too much walking to and from the room. The coffee at breakfast was just barely warm.

Choice of breakfast was very good Bed was very comfortable, clean and the weight ot the duvet was just right (for time of year)

The communal areas especially could do with a referb; it needs more than a lick of paint. The rooms and upstairs hallways are in better nick.

Very easy to reach from the M62. Pool and jacuzzi were lovely. Breakfast was lovely both mornings, and we had room service both evenings, which was great too. Plenty of parking, and the view over fields is nice. I'm guessing that it was a statley home in the past, as some of the original features are obvious. Would definitely book again.
