How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booked 2 rooms for 3 people. 1 room we required a made up sofa bed when booking. Phoned prior to arrival to ensure this was known. When arrived, no made up sofa room in either rooms. Returned to reception to inform staff that neither room had a made up sofa bed. We were told that room staff would be told to do this. 2 hrs later no one had come to do this. We advised reception on our way out to eat. On our return we were asked to move rooms, to next door, where there was a made up sofa bed. Could not understand why we were not put in this room earlier!
Very good breakfast and location for canal exploring.

The room could do with a bit of an upgrade and made slightly more modern. But everything was clean and great value for money.
The location was perfect. The room was nice and comfortable. The car park felt really secure.

The lights in the room are a bit confusing turning them on and off, and the lights on headboard did not work.
This was my second stay here and did not dissapoint. The scent in the lobby is lovely! Rooms are spacious and very clean. Loved that Rituals toiletries are provided. Slippers and robes are also provided. Location is fantastic, right in the heart of Broad Street with bars, canal in walking distance. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, we were delighted to be giving connecting rooms, it made our stay that more special.

Hot chocolate in rooms would have been fab for rooms with children staying.
The staff were fabulous. Kind, helpful, super caring with my little boy (7). Also accommodating when I had fallen over in the street, giving me ice and making sure I was OK. I last stayed in a Novotel 20 years ago (hotels are infrequent!), and this lived up to my memories. Cleanliness is most important and nothing was awry. Breakfast was fabulous too.

Car park was rammed, no space at all. Told to go down the road and spend more on a less secure car park. Dated room with lots of artex and a separate toilet with a heavy , chain-pull door caused the kids issues.
Central location and walking distance to all booked events. Staff were good.

Dated and poor bathroom arrangement, toilet in tiny cabinet with no wash hand basin, basin and bath in separate room. Not an accessible arrangement at all.

Bar seemed under staffed as there were queues when the nearby concert many of us attended ended - and the way the Guinness was poured wasn't great. Had to take 2 pints back. Bedroom was very warm, and hard to cool down - which impacted the comfort score.
Room was clean, and the breakfast was good. Staff were really friendly.

Unfortunately had to move rooms to facilitate repair of the loo. Second room wasn’t as nice but couldn’t be helped. Also sauna was unavailable
Smart clean and modern in a convenient area. Super breakfast with lots of healthy choices. Lovely room comfy bed and a bath. Super helpful friendly staff.

not enough parking spaces and spaces are very small No lift from the carpark- that I could see anyway There was a lot of noise coming from either outside or another group of guests.
