Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA mirror would help somewhere in the living room as there are no plugs in the bathroom.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage! The place was cosy and had all the facilities we needed for a couple of nights. We were impressed by the array of spices in the kitchen and the bed was super comfortable. A little gem just a short walk away from the town. Thankyou 😊

United KingdomNothing really. The TV was a bit hit and Miss trying to find a channel but I just used my laptop.
Comfortable and clean with a quirky look to it. Great shower and kitchen. Only a 10 minute walk into Hebden Bridge. Very quiet location. Good Wi-Fi.

United KingdomWe thought the bed against wall would be a bit of a problem, but it was not really.
Excellent location from which to explore Hebden Bridge and surrounding area. The on-street parking was good and close to property. We left the car where it was for our 2 night stop. Shower excellent and all well equipped kitchen. Bed looked a bit odd, but was very comfortable. Free Netflix appreciated as we could catch up on a series. Overall a very comfortable place to stay

The instructions to get there were v helpful, and communication with the host was easy and straightforward. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is in a great location for a short walk to the town, pubs, market, takeaway and canal. The supply of tea and coffee and fresh milk was an added bonus as I usual take my own stuff but had left it out of my packing.

United KingdomProper curtains needed to keep out the early morning light. Small dining table would be useful. I think I had my car vandalised for parking outside a nearby house, legally parked as well. It was keyed and had road grit thrown over it. No proof but quite likely.
Lovely little place in great location, good value.

United KingdomThe location on Google Maps didn't match the street address, so it took a little more finding than anticipated.
We loved this place. A beautiful haven with a deeply calm energy that did us the world of good. It has heart and soul, unlike so many holiday lets these days, and a kind spirit reflected in the price. You can tell this is also someone's home, but it very quickly felt like ours too. Lovely decor, a wall of books, gorgeous furniture, cosy even with lots of exposed stone (you might still want to bring slippers), light given the windows looking over the valley, clean and functional bathroom, and the most well stocked kitchen we've ever rented! The kind of place you want to keep a secret. Thanks for a lovely stay, we'd love to come back.

United KingdomNutclough location gives perfect access to the town centre, a few minutes walk. The apartment was great and the fire was most welcome on a chilly evening. The whole apartment was warm and comfortable. It has been turned into an apartment very sympathetically and you get a good sense of its former use. A fascinating place with a great selection of books. Recommend.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike.
We did not meet the owners but the communication beforehand was perfect. Apart from the usual, hosts, had provided complimentary breakfast cereals, preserves and toiletries. Plus should you need to use the wood fire a large sack of wood. The kitchen had the largest spice rack I've seen, along with all kinds of condiments. Such a lovely thought. Views were brilliant. Everything was as advertised and the bed was so comfortable.

United KingdomIt wasn't totally clean (sticky floors in kitchen and the area/wall down side of bed needs cleaning). Plus there was not a proper upright ironing board, so it was difficult to iron without clothes touching the floor. If I had known about this I would have brought my own ironing board.
The character of the place was great, the bathroom and shower excellent.

United KingdomThe lighting in the main room could have been brighter. The bathroom could have been better maintained in terms of the the basin draining quicker and the flush lever being repaired. The cutlery drawer in the kitchen also needs some looking at as it got stuck at one point.
The cottage is in a good location for exploring Hebden Bridge on foot. There were good clear instructions about everything. There was an excellent supply of kitchen items for cooking and ground coffee and cafattiere were appreciated for breakfast. The kitchen is very small so definitely a one person at a time experience. There was a bit of an issue with teh flush lever on the toilet which had broken but the toilet did still flush. Also the hand basin in the bathroom was very slow to drain. The shower was good. It was nice that there were logs available for the log fire though in fact it was warm enough when we stayed to not need to use the log fire at all. The bed was comfortable as were the chairs provided.
