Could do with some new Freesat boxes that support HD, as no BBC channels on TV

Heating downstairs wasn't great. Internet didn't work for 2 of the days. Floors weren't particularly clean.

    Good location.

The pillows on the bed were very flat and even though there were 4 it did not make for a comfortable night's sleep. We would advise other guests to take a pillow or two. We were not aware the garden for the cottage was across a public path. As people regularly walked past the front (and only) door it was not possible to sit in the garden without locking up the cottage.

Ideal location, perfectly situated for exploring the local area. In a quiet position with parking alongside. The cottage was VERY clean, we were amazed when we opened the fridge - very impressed! Kitchen is well stocked making cooking pleasant. Attention to detail was great with kitchen roll, toilet roll, dish soap, washing powder and hand soap all provided.

Facilities were basic- bath sheets would have been better than the tiny bath towels provided, one of which was stained; dishcloths were provided but one of those had horrible stains on; (we ended up using that as an oven glove as there wasn’t one provided) no grill tray in grill pan which someone else had pointed out previously, only to be told to use foil lined baking tray! That’s ok for toast but not bacon/sausage etc. when you don’t want them sitting in fat; large front ring on hob not working; plinth in front of kitchen units constantly falling off as it wasn’t attached; when we used the extractor fan and opened the door on it we had to hold the adjacent cupboard door out of the way as it was loose and caught on the extractor door; Wi-Fi wasn’t working properly for first two days. It would have been good to have a clothes airer rather than having to use tumble dryer when doing some washing.

Location was ok but disappointing that outside space was across a public footpath and not really private. Rooms were good sizes and clean although it did smell of dogs when we arrived. Probably would have benefitted from windows being open a while between guests. Bed was comfortable and slept well. Pub across road was nice.

No pubs or shops apart from mill

Not a lot to do in otterburn itself, only 1 local pub but kielder is about 20 minutes away and had a lively walk around kielder Water

It was just too quiet, our cottage had no back or front garden, we had nowhere outside to just sit and read,we just sat in and kept the door open. We felt there had been dogs staying there too it smelt pretty bad first couple of days and the floors were very dirty, I dropped bread butter side down on the kitchen floor and when I wiped it the kitchen roll was literally black it was such a shock. The bedroom was great very big and bright, the bathroom good too, living room small but very cosy for two.

Otterburn to our dismay had nothing there except otterburn mill and 2 wedding venues one of which was closed for maintenance, Le Petit Chateau opposite our cottage was the only pub but it did serve lovely meals, there's also a small convenience store just up the road
