Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything suited us and all in all the property greatly exceeded the expectations of these 'seasoned' self caterers!
The Old Village Hall has been sensitively converted to offer a high standard of accommodation. The living area is extremely spacious while three genuinely double bedrooms and three large bathrooms mean everyone can be comfortable. The 'master bedroom' with en-suite is especially remarkable for size and fittings. Kitchen facilities are excellent with a Bosch oven and hob and ample fridge/freezer storage. The property was spotlessly clean throughout. Situated up a quiet cul-de-sac just off the main road the property is peaceful whilst offering easy access to Kelso and other towns in the Scottish Borders. The Host lives locally, was easy to contact via Booking.com and very helpful if a question arose about something.

United KingdomThe settees were exceedingly uncomfortable, difficult to rise from, too deep and soft. The cushions slanted towards the floor. Completely unsuitable for proper support. The freezer was completely iced up and would not close properly. The upstairs bathroom towel rail wasn’t working and there was often an unpleasant smell of blocked drains. Some windows require curtains/ blinds to ensure privacy especially in bathrooms and to block early light in summer.
The peaceful location, excellent conversion and cleanliness. Lovely bathrooms and quality bedding , wood burning stove and plenty of logs. Generous welcome basket. Good quality white goods.

United KingdomThe only slight negative was the sofa. We know Loaf sofa's are meant for lounging on but we struggled to get comfortable. At one point I got lodged in between the cushions, I felt like the sofa was trying to eat me! Perhaps we were too old to appreciate the design. It certainly didn't stop us enjoying our stay!
Wow, such a stunning property. Every attention to detail had been thought of , it was spotless and well equipped. The welcome basket was very much appreciated. The bedrooms were spacious and we slept well due to the comfy beds and the quiet surroundings. It was warm and cosy despite it being a large open plan space. It was situated in a perfect spot to explore the Borders. Definitely a real treat.

United KingdomI expected to receive the Freeview TV channels and could not find them: we did not bother the proprietor with this as it was only a minor issue. I expected three rooms, all on en-suite, but nevertheless, there were three bath/shower rooms, so again a very minor point: I had probably not read the property details properly.
There was a lot to like about this property: its size, cleanliness, facilities, parking, and a very nice welcome pack too. A nice quiet location as well. Highly recommended and I would stay at the property again if in the area.

BelgiumNo proper curtains (transparent in 2 bedrooms) which compromised sleeping. The house has a great architecture, but no great views or garden and is quite tightly adjacent to the neighbours.
Excellent living spaces, well equipped kitchen, and bathrooms. Good location to explore surrounding area. In general it is well-prepared and thoughtfully laid-out.

United KingdomA little dark in the lounge/dining area - perhaps some stronger lighting options for reading snd board games. Otherwise the lighting is great for atmosphere.
Ideal for us as a family & friends grouping - plenty of communal space. Very well stocked kitchen. Parking for 3 large cars. Impeccable bathrooms.
