Perhaps the entrance to the hotel could be freshened up eg new carpet.

The location was really good. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The family suite was lovely. Very modern, airy & spacious. I would recommend the hotel.

It was cold but the radiators were cold Also the lift needs a stronger magnet on the inner gate. The lift only works if the gate is tightly connected. I had to go up and down stairs to find the lift and then send it to where my disabled husband needed it

    Quirky and very old

There were many hairs in the bath. The buffet breakfast was not as warm as we would like.

We liked the traditional old room which was spacious and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and we had a large bathroom comprising a freestanding roll top bath and a separate walk in shower. The dining room was excellent with lovely linen tablecloths and napkins.

It’s an old hotel with limited soundproofing so could guests be warned that when they come in at 1.30 a.m they don’t shout and fall over and crash about in areas where people are trying to sleep.

    It’s history. Good breakfast.

Only parking available is on street parking in a payment meter zone. Hotel has private deal with local authority so hotel guest pays £5.00 for hotel ticket granting 24 hours' parking which is easier and cheaper than parking unilaterally and feeding a parking meter with coins every few hours.

It could do with a bit of TLC Some rooms do look a bit dated and need freshening up. We have stayed before but the breakfast wasn’t very nice this time. It was all a bit baked up from being under the hot plates and the quality of the food wasn’t as good. Shame really. It Wouldn’t take much effort to make this an amazing place to stay.

Lovely old hotel in a great location. Close to restaurants, bars and shops and opposite beautiful pavilion and park. Comfortable, clean very friendly staff.

Our room was very old fashioned with creeky floorboards which made the wardrobe rattle. Good sized tv. It's a very old building and suffering from faded grandeur. Overall good value for the price paid.

Buffet breakfast was good but a bit disorganised as most of the items had run out so it was necessary to wait for them to be topped up. However breakfast was good overall. Perhaps a few more staff would have improved the experience.

The communal areas could do with an update, the first impression isn't good and the reception has a hostel like feel. The staff in the restaurant seemed unsure of their roles and would benefit from supervision and training in hospitality.

The room was large, the four poster bed comfortable and the bathroom roomy with good facilities and excellent shower.
