Very pleasant country house hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy, limited in size a little by the style of the house, but preferable to any significant internal redesign. Lovely setting, sat on the garden terrace for tea and drinks, which was splendid. Excellent meals in the restaurant, top quality, so would happily return and recommend.

Radiator was on in the room and it was quite warm and the windows don't open so it was a bit too warm for a while on the evening but nothing major

Everything about our stay was excellent. The Staff were very helpful and friendly made us feel very welcomed. The meal in the Restraint was excellent although there was not much choice what was there was well presented and of good quality. The room was spacious and well furnished, the bed was very comfortable. The en-suite had recently been refurbished and of good quality.

the whole place is very tired with worn furniture....Cushions on the beds were dirty with marks on them. Bathroom and shower needed quite a lot of work on them and the paint on the window frames was cracked with dirt on them. Beds were hard. This was not the deluxe room as I expected.

Having to pre order meals. Some facilities were dated and could do with a revamp, i.e. the shower.

The breakfast was well portioned, lots to choose from. Nothing seemed to be an issue. The staff went over and above by letting us borrow their charger. Friendly staff.

Extremely cramped room. One of the windows had a draught. The room was very cold when we arrived. It may be difficult for people to arrive before 10 pm, particularly when one is driving from far. Signposting could be better.

Friendly staff and chef. Some initial confusion about our order but it was soon rectified. Chef, in fact, brought our delayed order to our room as we were tired after a long drive. Very convenient location for attending a wedding at Davenport House.

Cleanliness of the room in particular the bathroom and all became rather bizarre/disappointing. We noticed hairs around the toilet and dirt around the radiator. Asked the manager and she kindly promised to rectify with a further clean, we were tight on time so didn’t want to change room, but it would be re cleaned. We came back and the bathroom had dirt in new places and the radiator/towel rail was still covered with dust. I couldn’t see the point mentioning it again. Maybe it will be clean for guests in future - fingers crossed.

Expensive evening event going on ,we had to go out to find something to eat. We were three floors up with a narrow stairs to climb.

Standard of cleanliness a lot to be desired. Very old fashioned furnishings in bedroom, shabby, not chic! 1970s wall mounted hair dryer not working, neither over sink light. Bed covers not changed from previous occupant as had chocolate & make up stains on. Lots of dead flies in all areas. Kitchen food smells permeating bedroom, bed linen, clothing & hair! Old TV remote helps together with elderly sticky tape. A bit more attention to detail would be brilliant, I would say short staffed, & but hard worked staff!

With the hot weather we are having the room was extremely hot therefore didn’t get much sleep, we did have the window open, our bedroom was on the Front of the house so quite noisy with the gravelled driveway and very smelly with the cows,

However we were unhappy with the evening meal which we had in the evening. If you like "fine" dining such as you see on Masterchef all well and good but for us we considered it was extremely expensive for what you got. We couldn't fault the cooking but we are more used to "meat and two veg" or at least something similar. others may not agree with these comments but we would think twice about returning.

The food was excellently cooked and we had no problem whatsoever with the breakfast. The room was more than adequate although the washhand basin in the bathroom was somewhat small especially if you wet shave. the bed was comfortable and being out in the countryside it was nice and quiet.
