Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe no-reception policy is a bit weird. You don’t get a key, just a code for the gate and then a link to use everytime you want to get into the buildig and your rooms. A bit too humanless for my liking
The rooms were clean and quite comfy.

United KingdomI can seldom get the TV to work when I stay here. However, that may be down to my lack of technical expertise, rather than the TV's fault! The central heating control knob had become detached from the radiator. Eventually I managed to turn off the heating as the room was too hot when I went in.
Probably my favourite place to stay in Edinburgh. Really like it - location, clean, comfortable, warm, slightly quirky.

United KingdomVery loud plumbing noises till late at night while other guests used their bathrooms. No physical lock or bolt on the door so felt a bit uneasy being there alone.
The location. The room and bathroom were nice. All you need and plenty space for a short stay.

AustraliaThe unit was overheated when we arrived. We soon realised we couldn't control the heat banks. We spent ages trying to figure it out so we contacted the owner. It was turned off remotely. But over our stay, it was on and off all the time. One night, it was hard to sleep as it was too hot for us. We had windows open to keep it cooler. Whilst there was netflix there was no regular tv. Also, the place needs a few cleaning utensils such as a mop to clean the shower.
The place was clean, and the beds and pillows were very comfy. The position was great. Very quiet and had a great pub next door. ( recommend the burgers). Many places to eat and supermarket across the road. The instructions for entering the building were clear, and the place was very secure.

United KingdomWe couldn't get into the building using the link, so had to phone to get the code. The room smelled a bit when we went in, nothing opening a window couldn't fix. Was a bit expensive for what it was
Closeness to where our table reservation was. Getting into the room via a link and no key was great

United KingdomIt was roasting in the room, there was a smart radiator and no instructions on how to properly use it (i.e turn up or down the heat), this made thing a about uncomfortable when it was too hot to sleep
Location was great, jumped on the tram each day into the city centre. The room was very clean and it had everything we needed.

BrazilI didn't like that they didn't shared the code to get into the building as they were supposed to, so we arrived late at night with kids and had to wait outside, and reach them on the phone to be able to receive the code. I think the check-out time is too early, and think it's a shame they don't offer breakfast. Beds and pillows could be better, and the bathroom could be improved. I also particularly didn't like the decor with all those fake flowers.
I liked that the bedroom was spacious, bright and with six big windows, offering us a great view. The shower was really really nice and the bathroom had a good size. Also, the location was pretty fair.

United KingdomIt’s been said on nearly every review but the virtual key to the room is problematic. It didn’t work for us so we had to input a 10 digit code in every time. Maybe we were unlucky. The only other thing that let it down were the lack of tea (3 bags) and coffee (1 pod!) for a 3 night stay.
Loved the location, 2 minute walk to tram stop. The room(7) was comfortable and had two separate bedrooms. Very quiet location, no noise from outside, could hear other guests above walking about but you get that anywhere.

GermanyWe had twin beds and the beds were very small and uncomfortable. Also the check-in wasn’t the easiest as nowhere in my booking it explicitly said the room number. The TV wasn’t working as it wasn’t connected to the WiFi and even though the host said he would fix it, nothing happened over the three nights we stayed there.
The accommodation is located right in the middle of Leith Walk where lots of pubs and restaurants are located. The new town is also accessible by foot, old town is better reached via buses. The room was very clean and quiet and a much needed umbrella we could use was included.
