Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom£20 per day parking should not be necessary for a hotel out of the centre & with plenty of space to park. Should be included
Perfect location easy walking distance along Thames to Oxford City Centre.

United KingdomThe parking fees are an absolute racket and as a hotel guest there should be complimentary of greatly reduced parking charges. An absolute con. For that reason I probably won’t return especially if I’m staying longer than a couple of nights.
Even though it’s a large hotel because it’s only a couple of stories high it didn’t feel overcrowded. The cleanliness was exceptional. The more mature woman on the front desk this morning was warm and friendly whereas the younger woman when I checked in was friendly but robotic. I think maturity in staff really makes a big difference.

United KingdomThe swimming pool, steam room and sauna felt more like a leisure centre than a hotel spa experience.
The staff were lovely, the hotel felt fresh and clean, the surroundings were beautiful and it was easy to get in to the city

Excellent service, lovely venue and extremely comfortable. Lilly on the front desk went above and beyond for us. As someone who's 6ft4" she upgraded us to a room with a larger bed to compensate for my height which was extremely thoughtful and greatly appreciated!

United KingdomThe bar food isn't great. I've eaten there twice now and regretted it both times. Overcooked and just not great quality. Pity, because it's a long walk into town for a meal. And the breakfast was plentiful but a bit canteen-like.
Comfortable rooms and bath. Easy parking, a rarity in Oxford.

United KingdomThe restaurant dinner/ meals and service was excellent, however we thought the dining room itself was a little uninspiring and more like a conference room. Maybe some more suitable room dividers, table lamps/ lighting could be used to cheer it up? We usually preferred to eat in the bar area when we could, as it was more cheerful.
We loved the hotel, the location on the edge of town, our room was very comfortable and the facilities and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location as well near the river. We especially appreciated that we could park our car by the hotel and this was the reason we opted to stay with you initially as it was not possible at most of the other hotels in Oxford. The dining quality was excellent - including breakfasts - and we loved the welcoming environment. EVERY member of staff we spoke with was very helpful and friendly. Thank you.

United KingdomParking isn't included in the rate (payable £20 per day), it would be wonderful to offer guests a reduced rate for this - especially those staying longer.
Very warm and human atmosphere at Voco. The front of house were helpful and approachable (I wish I got their names!). We were made to feel comfortable and looked after during food service by Eldhose, and Mali brought great charism as well as a professional management of the bar and breakfast areas. The hotel room was clean, bed comfortable, food quality is great, the location is great proximity to the city, and the surrounding grounds are lovely.

United KingdomNothing!
The location of the hotel suited our needs, out of the city centre but easily reached. This is a modern hotel, beautifully decorated and clean. The staff were welcoming, polite and knowledgeable about Oxford. The bedroom was on the ground floor with a patio outside. It was a large room with everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the leisure facilities and especially the Steam room! The pool was large enough for a swim work-out. Breakfast was varied and excellent in quality and taste with the manager being friendly and helpful. In all, we had a very pleasant stay in The Voco Oxford Spires and will certainly use you again!

United KingdomThe rooms were a long way away from the reception. Our room 38 was almost as far away as you could get. My wife had a recently fractured ankle, so with the long walk, it was painful at times. The lounge area was quite small for the size of the hotel. There were very few comfortable soft seats. It looked modern and bright but was not made for comfort. The bedroom was cold at times, and the heating was not adjustable.
Staff were generally friendly, especially the man who seated us for breakfast. He made up for the ones that were just average. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice hot and cold and all very tasty. Evening food was well presented, plentiful and very nice. The bed was very comfortable and big. The facilities in the bedroom were very good. The room was very quiet, probably due to being so far away. The bathroom was nice, especially having a nice warm shower.
