Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBut the information in the accommodation is out of date. I was sent 3 different internet passwords and on arrival i needed to call to ask re parking. The 1st 2 numbers didn't work only the 3rd number did. Parking is an issue on this property you can park on the end of the road opposite but i wouldn't want to stay in high season I think it would be chaos. A lovely cottage let down by the management of it
This a lovely well decorated cottage and extremely comfortable. Cant fault the cottage itself.

United KingdomStruggled to heat the house, was quite cold even with the heating on. Not much hot water, either and the boiler was incredibly noisy. Could do with a deep clean. Founds wrapper down by one of the beds from previous guests. Wi-Fi instructions/ name different in the information manuals, neither names or passwords worked. No parking outside!!!
Great location. Kitchen well equipped and living room cozy, bright space. Beds very comfortable.

United KingdomUnfortunately there didn’t seem to be any constant hot water especially upstairs. So couldn’t use the bath could only use the electric shower. Could have been cleaner especially the bathroom and fridge. Lack of car parking and no permit available.
Very comfortable and spacious. Lovely furnishings.

United KingdomThe parking wasn’t ideal. We managed to park on the street opposite, but in the description it said there was a parking space. A parking permit wasn’t left in the house either, despite us calling up and being told one would be dropped off. Tv in bedroom with bunk beds didn’t work as it couldn’t pick up a signal.
Loved the house and location. Lovely beds, really clean.

United KingdomThe bath didnt have a good water flow and the hot water was only lukewarm. Some of the door handles were coming loose but this didnt effect our stay. Parking could be an issue in peak season.
Absolutely loved this cottage, it was a home from home, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed, short walking distance to the shops and a good base for visiting the nearby attractions.

United KingdomThe main oven didn’t work but the smaller one was fine. The shower wasn’t brilliant but was hot. Everything else was great. The log burner fire worked but wasn’t right as seal broken.
Very cosy cottage. No heating when we arrived but the company was very reactive and advised us how to rectify.

United KingdomThe stairs, needs a rail to hold onto as you go up the banister is not enough. The parking information. We would not have booked if we had known you had no onsite parking it was first come first serve in a cul de sac opposite property
Cosy cottage. Large enough for us. Clean and well decorated. Access to the village of Seahouses and the local amenities.

United Kingdomthe only one improvement I could suggest would be to make the outdoor area slightly more appealing, perhaps just a few planters/some greenery.

United Kingdomparking not great, we managed to park in the one available space near the property opposite on the corner and didn’t move car during stay but this was a worry before our arrival following previous reviews, no other parking available close by also windows could benefit from double glazing, street seemed quiet on arrival but quite busy with traffic as well as noisy when pubs close and people walking home in the early hours of the morning
location close to the harbour was great, lovely cosy sitting room and spacious kitchen, beds very comfortable in both double rooms, close to all amenities

United KingdomSharing parking (one behind the other) with the next door rental was a chore. On street parking was easy in the residential street opposite. Had to turn all the radiators off. 22°C was too warm.
A great cottage. Well equipped kitchen. The front garden and back yard were dog secure. Close to the main street and harbour. Petrol station at the top of the street. Good-sized Co-op 5 mins walk.

United KingdomThe bed and sofa could have been more comfortable for our personal taste, but others may have found it fine for them. When we arrived, we discovered the parking arrangements advertised on booking.com were incorrect which was initially disappointing (as it was dark by the time we arrived), but a message to the owner soon advised us where we could park (as there were double yellow lines outside the property and a private road opposite). It seems on-street parking should have been advertised on the website. We did however manage to park at the end of the private road all week opposite the cottage without any problems.
Location was perfect, just a short walk from the pretty harbour and the town with shops selling everything you need. Cottage was lovely, much larger rooms than expected, everything we needed for our stay, including a tea and biscuit welcome pack in a kitchen cupboard. It was a great base to visit places in the area like Alnwick Castle and town, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island with Lindisfarne Castle (check the tide times to get back safely), local beaches and harbours, everywhere we wanted to visit was only half an hour's drive away. Neighbours and local people very friendly, lots of dog walkers always said hello when we were out walking.
