Can't rate this cottage highly enough. The hosts have really thought about their guests and there is nothing that they haven't thought about.. Even down too the lovely welcome basket on arrival. The cottage it's self is immaculate throughout and set in beautiful surroundings. Was a lovely relaxing weekend away which we didnt want to end but we have all the hopes of returning again soon

Everything was perfect!

I had a delightful stay at the cozy cottage and I’m already looking forward to returning. The location was perfect, just a 5-minute drive from Barnard Castle town centre. The thoughtful host provided us with milk, croissants, eggs, and even home-grown potatoes. The friendly horses added a charming touch, and the beautiful views made our time there truly special. The cottage felt like a home away from home, equipped with everything we needed. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

No Vacuum cleaner.

What an absolutely stunning little cottage. Worth way more than is being charged. The location is perfect - a couple of miles from town so far enough to take advantage of the "Dark Skies" but close enough for everything you need with supermarkets and lots of local shops. Extremely well equipped - the only thing we could have done with was a pair of tongs in the kitchen. Super cosy with the lovely log burner too. Extremely clean. Loads of little extras - Fresh eggs and potatoes from the farm, criossants, jam, butter, snacks, milk and a good supply of other essentials in the cupboard also. We will definitaly be coming back.

Very nice accommodation situated outside Castle Barnard. First time visit to the area and really enjoyed things to do locally. Host was helpful and recommended local restaurants and walks.

All of it. Clean, comfortable, well appointed. Outdoor seating front and back. Parking outside front door. Part of farming complex so surrounded by fields. Beautiful scenery.

There was 'nothing' we didn't like, but a bigger settee where you were able to put your feet up or even a puffet, we did struggle to get comfortable on it. A full length mirror would also be a bonus.

The cottage was beautiful and spotless, we could have moved in permanently. Welcome touches i.e fresh eggs, potatoes and breakfast cereal along with biscuits, was a lovely surprise and really appreciated. Staying on the farm, surrounded by beautiful fields and animals, especially the horses, made the break even more special. Sheila was very friendly and welcoming, we will definitely stay again.

The only slight downside was the fact that it would be difficult to walk into town on the road outside of the property because there is no footpath but this cannot be helped & certainly did not detract from the enjoyment of the stay.

If I had to to write something, I'd suggest maybe moving the bedroom mirror to the wall with the sockets so guests are able to see what they are doing whilst doing their hair. The mirror is removable but this would solve that incase of any damages.

The nicest place we've stayed so far, great value for your money and the surrounding areas were beautiful. The eggs were amazing with our bacon.

Could not fault anything about Phils Cottage. Loved everything. Sheila and Phil were perfect hosts. Cottage was soooo comfortable. Home from home. Loved being able to feed their horses. Couldn't ask for anything else. Perfect stay,location. Lovely welcome pack when you get in cottage. Defo be back and would highly recommend this cottage. Cannot thank Sheila and Phil enough. X
