WiFi - Although fast in the common area, signal is very poor in the rooms and keep on dropping. But not a major issue. Electronic Shower - They have electronic showers which regulates the water flow and also the temperature. Water pressure is workable, not great and sometimes the electronic regulators malfunction. The showers don't have body wash gel, you need to have your own - but that's fine.

1. Staff - Karl & Lorna are such excellent & helpful individual. We connected extremely well as Karl & I shared our appreciation of the great director Satyajit Ray and he has also been to my city. So we shared & exchanged a lot of views. Additionally, when my ferry got cancelled due to bad weather, Karl helped me change my reservation from Oban Youth Hostel to Port Charlotte Youth Hostel. In addition, he also helped me secure a bed at the Oban Youth Hostel next day through their own system whereas there was no availability for Oban Youth Hostel on booking.com. Lorna helped me secure reservation at the fantastic sea food kitchen restaurant next door. They are so helpful. Thank you so much!!! 2. Location - Simply excellent. Walking distance to Bruichladdich distillery, bus stop (just 5 min walk), eateries and convenience store. 3. Facilities - Huge Kitchen and Lounge area with super comfy furnitures & fixtures. Open a dram in their lounge on a stormy evening and enjoy a book. You will be lost in your own world. 4. Rooms - Super clean and super comfy with lockers underneath your bed. The bed has reading light, USB charging point, UK type electric plug points and a wash basin with mirror, a table and hooks for hanging your coats & clothes. Super arrangement. 5. Toilets & Bathrooms - Super clean and well fitted.

The hostel is small and was relatively quiet as we were there just at the start of the season. Lorna and her husband are very helpful and kinda. The hostel is located directly on the waterfront in port Charlotte, which has a nice pub and a few restaurants. Our room was very comfortable and the shared bathrooms and showers are kept very tidy. We had a great stay!

Wonderful place. Hostel was clean, host was so helpful and friendly. I'm so glad that I booked here. Hostel is right infront of the sea so you can listen to the sound of wave at night. Bus stop is about 2 minutes far so easy to go to other side of the island. Also you can find out some useful items that other guests left at the corner of kitchen too. I'll be sure to visit here again. Already missing there!

I thought I had booked an ensuite with double bed. My mistake, though that would have been better. We were kept awake by a man snoring in thd next room, so walls must be extremely thin.

We were stranded when our tent broke in a storm and they were the kindest possible hosts, helping us with our washing and just generally being extremely helpful. The room was great, and the other amenities (lounge, kitchen) were fantastic. Right on the beach, the views were to die for.

Breakfast is OK, what makes this a good stay are the the hosts Lorna og Karl which are very friendly helpful and service minded. The facilities are very good, one of the best youth hostels we have tried. the location is beautiful and a good central location for the island.

Unfortunately the inside walls are a bit thin and noises in the corridor and the next rooms are quite noticeable. Rooms are quite spartan and small, as expected from a youth hostel, so this was not a disappointment.

The hosts are very nice and helpful. The location on loch Indaal is superb. Dining hall and lodge are perfect; and very well maintained. Pot Charlotte restaurants were full when we arrived, as I did not book in advance, (even though I was warned to do so by the Youth Hostel) but hosts helped !
