Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe window only opened a couple of inches which meant you had no air flow (no AC) so the room was very hot.
The owner was very friendly and accommodated us checking in early which was appreciated.

NetherlandsLovely property with real character. Nice rooms, comfortable and cosy. Really nice sitting rooms and dining rooms where you can bring your own food. Plus a lovely cafe just across the road. The best is how lovely and friendly the owners are. Lisa and David were so accommodating despite a last minute change in our part. I hope to go back again.

United KingdomEvery need was catered for so nothing to suggest.
Portland House is a unique Grade 2 listed property with many original features. The owner made us extremely welcome and the visit was excellent from start to finish. As well as very well proportioned and decorated rooms, the garden is lovely and ideal for a dog to investigate. The location is perfect for exploring the Wye Valley and has off road parking. The deli and village store next door was an added bonus. Definitely well worth the money.

United KingdomThe shower cubicle in our room was a bit small for a big chap like me. My wife was fine.
Great location. Comfortable room. Lisa was incredibly welcoming - and tea and cake in the garden on arrival was fab. Although they don’t offer breakfast there was a fabulous place about 50 yards away

United KingdomHost was very welcoming and helpful. The room was great as were welcoming touches - lemon drizzle cake, (Yorkshire) tea, biscuits in room. Use of the fridge also very convenient. The location is excellent. Symonds Yat and the Wye close by - great if you're an angler during river season!! Breakfast from Woodies (Whitchurch) is fantastic. Close to lots of outdoor activity :)

United KingdomI chose the room with a bigger bed by mistake and it was two beds pushed together. This wouldn't have been a problem usually but one of the beds dipped so there was a slope making it a bit uncomfortable. The door to the lounge was also very low and my boyfriend who is 6 ft 1 hit his head twice. The first time he had a cap on so I wasn't as bad, but the second time he wasn't wearing one and he forgot that the door was low and hit his head really hard, leaving a gash. A "mind your head" sign, or some padding wouldn't go amiss. This didn't change the fact that it is a very nice hotel with great facilities, and despite the above we had a nice pleasant stay.
We were in the area for a family event and it was the perfect location. The cafe/shop down the lane offered takeaway food both in the morning and in the evenings and was good for any additional amenities. There was a fridge in the lounge which was really handy and we were provided with milk in a small glass bottle and a case to keep it cool in the room, which I thought was a good idea. The biscuits in the room were lovely as well. We also liked the information about the history of the house. Overall we had a nice stay.

United KingdomThe water pressure was a bit low but I really appreciated how open they were about it when checking in, it’s a beautiful old house so wouldn’t expect it to be perfect.
In a nice quiet location, very close to Symonds Yat. The house is stunning and we instantly felt at home. We were greeted by Lisa, who was very friendly and friendly. Loved the little touches, tea and cake on arrival, home made biscuits in the room. It was lovely.

United KingdomThere is no breakfast offered but luckily there is a nice cafe next door that opens at 9am. Check it is open . It may closed on a Monday. There is also a nice, dog friendly pub along the road for an evening meal. It did mean a walk in the dark over a bridge. It wasn't too far. Road noise outside but not inside. The room was well soundproofed.
Very pleasant and helpful hosts. Everything was very clean. Big house with comfortable bedrooms. You also get use of a few other rooms plus the garden.

United KingdomDespite the hotel being very close to the busy road, you could not hear any road noise at all. The beds were fantastically comfortable. The welcome touches were lovely and we will definitely be back to stay again. Although no breakfast was provided, the small cafe across the road was fantastic and we would highly recommend a visit!

United KingdomThe plumbing system was noisy. The toilet made a loud noise when flushed as did the water for the basin and shower when it was running making us feel a little conscious of disturbing others whenever these were used.
Lisa was very welcoming and helpful. Very nice tea and homemade cake on arrival. There was a well stocked tea/coffee tray in the room with fresh milk in the fridge in the guests' lounge and delicious home made cookies in a jar on the tray. We had all we needed for our stay and everywhere was spotless. The dog was also made very welcome with lots of little extras to help with her. The location was excellent for visiting the many National Trust and Cadw sites we wished to visit.

A warm welcome from Lisa who gave us tea and cake on our arrival Saturday evening. We loved the period surroundings which were clean and comfortable. The lounge, dining room and garden were all at our disposal so we didn't need to stay confined to our room. We and our dog were made to feel very much at home, as if we were staying with family.
