Just what you'd expect to get for the price - a safe place to sleep comfortably, but otherwise basic and no frills. As long as you don't expect more than that - and at the price, you shouldn't - you'll be fine. Ability to leave my luggage pre check-in to go hiking important plus.

Bathrooms not very clean - mold in showers and dirt/dust in corners and on floor moldings. Beds worn and broken springs in mattresses - not comfortable. Seems like it should be in much better shape given that it still isn’t cheap and it’s fully booked.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, well appointed kitchen with plenty of room for all guests to cook, eat and socialize.

Good location on isle of Skye, beds are comfortable and good temperature rooms, bathrooms are clean enough but not fantastic. Kitchen has everything you’ll need but not amazing. Overall decent backpackers.

Not being able to use any facilities at all between 10am-3pm seemed a bit restrictive. Maybe it would make more sense if no kitchen between 10-11, then no bedrooms between 11-12 etc etc. This also seemed a bit much as the cleaning began way before 10am (around 9am), so I would assume it would be finished before 3pm.

Location is excellent and price is as cheap as you will find for Portree. The showers were decent enough and the place was clean.

Barebones room. Shared bathroom. Was quite expensive since I got the whole room. Just Isle of Skye things I guess.

This is actually a hostel where they let out individual beds. However I was looking for a room in Portree and this was the only place that had any accommodation left. I rented a room there, which had 5 beds and paid about $300 (SGD) for the whole room per night. Compared to a $300 room, this would be considered quite considering it was a barebones room with nothing but a bunch of beds, and did not even have it's own bathroom. But I guess this is the situation with accommodation in Isle of Skye, and I should have just been grateful to even get a place to stay. I guess if you really are a budget traveller and are okay to stay in a shared room with shared bathroom etc, the price per bed will be a great economical option in Isle of Skye. They also had a nice huge fully equipped shared kitchen for everyone to use, which can be a great money saver in a place like IoS, where eating out is very expensive and sometimes not even possible.

The showers are push button which normally isn’t too bad however the timer on these was so short. I counted 5 second intervals which makes it super difficult to wash yourself with the water turning off

Lock of the bathroom not working correctly and therefore it's very noisy every time guests try to open and close the bathroom door. Smells, both good and bad ones, coming out of the dining area filll up the entire building.

The place is a bit noisy (doors to/from rooms/bathrooms are opened and closed constantly).

Right in the centre of Portree, near the port and most dining places. It's a hostel, so there's a shared kitchen, which was quite large and well-equipped. Rooms had the spare minimum (bunk beds, chair).

The size of the room for 5 people was way too small to include all of us plus out luggage. And 3 large flights of stairs up with suitcases was a nightmare! Not enough power points for all people.

The location is fantastic, right in the middle of everything, and the view from the kitchen/dining is stunning. kitchen was well equipped even though you need to be aware of the kitchen closing time to plan your hike or access your food in the closing hours.
