How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There were a couple of cobwebs in our room and the pots and pans hadn't been thoroughly cleaned. Nothing too big
The location was great! The accommodation was lovely and comfy and the shower was perfect.

The double bedroom was small. Wi fi not so good, could not really use. Located behind the Post office, no outlook.
The location is great and there is a long stay car park nearby. Staff in the Post Office were very helpful and friendly. The accommodation offered all we needed. A great base for exploring the area. Very good value for money.

Lovely accommodation, even better than photos on the advert. Very comfortable and also very quiet. Family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids enough space for everyone. Highly recommended

Small points only: kitchen needs a more cutting boards!- but nothing negative, great value for the location.
We came down to visit with our grand children, property is larger that it looks... right in the middle of town which was great- fantastic location, parking was easier than we thought. Great value for money. Will stay again next time we are in Anwick.

We were upgraded free of charge due to a falling fence. The house was huge and everything provided. Alnwick great for shopping. House right on front street close to all amenities

Absolutely could not fault it. Brilliant location in the centre of town. Lovely clean, simple, affordable little bolt hole for exploring Northumberland for a couple of days.

The flat was central to Alnwick, the parking was a bonus, ( hard to find properties in town centres with parking). The flat had everything we needed, was warm & comfortable. The hosts messaged a detailed description of where & how to get there, contact them etc before our arrival.

Large living area and fully firnished kitchen downstairs, two small bedrooms upstairs, one double and one bunk-bed single. Large bathroom and good shower. All very clean. Excellent location in the middle of town. Parking in the pub lot next door was no problem. A great place to stay in Alnwick.

The apartment was in a great location, the furnishings and space were great and really well presented. It was easy to find and great value for money. Any questions we had were answered with a smile.

Ok, to give a balanced review, I have to be honest. The parking in the hotel was not for me at all, it’s very steep and I didn’t feel happy to leave my car there (this is obviously a personal preference and it’s great that at least a space is offered). Instead, I went left out of the hotel car park and parked round the corner on the left hand side where parking permits are not required. We were lucky enough to always get a space there. Just beyond this row is a little driveway through to Roxburgh car park, it’s free and you can park there for 24 hours, no return within 4 hours. We didn’t need to use it and it was often completely full but it is another option should you want one. I was really pleased I didn’t have to park in the street for 2 hours, move the car, return after 18:00, move it again by 08:00 etc. etc. The only other point I’d make is that the wooden steps up to the property get very slippery when wet so be careful.
The apartment is wonderful with a comfortable lounge area and fully equipped kitchen. You cannot fault the location and although the property is on the high street, it’s super quiet and safe because there is a locked door which you enter that leads to the property beyond. Everything is on your doorstep; great shops, some lovely restaurants, the castle, the Alnwick Garden (a must see, my 11 yr old daughter and I loved it! Great value) and easy access for travel to the national park (highly recommend visiting Linhope Spout waterfall, a highlight of our trip), Holy Island, Bamburgh, Druridge…the list goes on!

Possibly the parking in the queens head , a resident claims there is no special deal with the owners .
Fabulous location for everything that we were doing , castle one day , Alnwick gardens and Lilidorei the next day . Great to be able to walk to everything . And the flat was everything we wanted .
