Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI missed my flight from Stansted, and my booking was accepted late at night at a very short notice. It was raining and late and I got lost in the streets a bit but the host made an effort to come out and fetch me with the car. There’s coffee and tea in the kitchen, just what I needed after a cold rain outside The host was flexible with checkout time which allowed me to not rush back to Stansted straight in the morning and relieved a lot of stress. It’s not a hotel but it’s good for a short stay and I really appreciate the kindness!

GermanyI couldn't shut one of the bedroom windows. Thankfully it was not cold and the fresh air did me no harm. Other than the bedroom, the house was a bit of a mess.
All I needed for an overnight stay before taking a flight from Stansted. A private house and as it says on the tin, "Quiet". Couldn't complain about the price.

LuxembourgNot telling the customers that Booking asked the owner to rent the 3 rooms because the hotels were full. They were not and no justification is needed anyway! Only one bathroom for the 3 rooms. Probably nothing to do about it. Good that there are 2 toilets.
I was just looking for a room, not too expensive, before taking the plane very early in the morning so that did the job. Ok if you can take the bus (5£ each way) to go to the airport otherwise maybe better to take an hotel closer to the aiport since the taxi was 29£ each way. Nice to have a bit of food for a quick bite when arriving late and leaving early, thanks ;-)

United KingdomThe bed was not changed from last guests it was slept in and creased with multiple human hairs in the sheets. The room was dirty with unclean surfaces and used tissue under bed. Surfaces above doors were thick with dust and to be honest quite disgusting. We slept on towels and in our clothes as we arrived late from a delayed flight. Normally we would have left but had no option. The tv didn't work and the bedside light was a mess. This wasn't an issue given the state of the room though. It's a shame as we are in hospitality ourselves so know what to expect and how to respond and neither were anywhere near satisfactory. Is short don't go there unless you like sleeping in other people sheets with their detritus around you.
Close-ish to Stansted Airport although if busses aren't running it's very expensive get airport taxi

United KingdomThe “quiet house” was billed as a hotel and cost £130.00 but in fact was a small house on an estate that was not yet finished No rooms had locks so my sleep was twice interrupted by people thinking my room was theirs The bathroom and kitchen were both filthy and there was you washed Crockery in the kitchen The bathroom was shared and dirty There was no Bathmat The carpet was covered with paint and the property was clearly unfinished There were no tea bags/ milk The linen was cheap and nylon The experience was challenging

FranceWe have been very lucky to be hosted here. It’s really close to the Stansted Airport (thanks to bus 309) and it’s great for a night. Also, we booked at the very last minute but our host has been very reactive and welcoming with us. We recommend this place before a flight without a doubt !😇
