...in comparison, the cooked breakfast was very dull and virtually taste-free. Some parts of the hotel are looking a little bit tired and in need of renovation - this goes for some of the furniture as well. This didn't worry me, but might be offputting to some guests.

For me, this stay was all about the location of the hotel. I had two venues to walk to during my stay and parking had to be readily accessible. As it turned out, parking was about two minutes walk away and both my venues could be reached in ten minutes on foot - even the Art Gallery and Museum was only about 15 minutes away. The discounted parking rate was most welcome. I was initially concerned about having a room facing the main road, but the soundproofing was excellent and I slept very well. The walk-in shower was glorious. The staff were uniformly excellent - polite, helpful and efficient. The pastries at breakfast were lovely, but...

Grateful to Claire the Receptionist who sorted out our parking problems and was cheerful and very knowledgeable and helpful to us. She helped to make our stay great. All reception staff friendly and welcoming.

There was no bath it was just a shower. The floor boards in room looked a bit dated

Decor is a bit tired and the room/bathroom could have been cleaner. Not really the fault of the hotel but we were woken by very loud music at about 3am which went on for an hour - better soundproofing would have been welcome!

Only two staff on the reception desk when checking in, which meant I had to wait a bit to get my room key.

Good location from the train station and local amenities. Would recommend anyone staying for business purposes. Breakfast was very nice, simple but pleasant.

Shower was unfortunately a little dirty, I slipped a couple of times on the lime scale but otherwise a lovely room.

My room was very cold, increased the temperature on the thermostat but nothing happened.7am next morning the heating kicked in which was really disappointing. Television was not working

The bed was too small in our room. Upon checking out and having to verify our parking the member of staff on reception only did it for 1 night instead of 2 which meant when we tried to leave the car park the exit barrier rejected the ticket and requested more payment. My partner had to go back to the hotel twice, the first time to pay the 2nd night for parking which was again rejected and upon the final time requested the manager attend the car park to speak to NCP to explain the error.

The hotel was central to our needs. The staff were friendly on reception. Bar staff had a smile for us.
