Over my last three stays it has gone from having a good hot buffet breakfast, to being told quite rudely that it was continental breakfast only, to being told before my last stay that they are now a room only hotel with no breakfast option at all. There used to be a very friendly girl that did the evening reception for check in. Now there is no one on the reception and you have to phone a mobile number and wait for someone to come and check you in. The prices have gone up, which means it's not as good value especially for room only. I was told that the new owners are renovating (and to be fair it did need some improvements) but the last couple of stays have felt like paying more and getting less, so I won't stay here again.

I have stayed at Risley Hall quite a few times as it was a good price for a once a month visit to the area for work. I have always enjoyed it's somewhat quirky, old world charm and closed my eyes to the run down parts as I found the Fawlty Towers-esque feel entertaining. Things appear to be changing with new owners and I won't be staying here again.

The bathroom tiling had seen better days.

The exposed beams and age of the building have a lovely feel to the place.

Receptionist wasn't there on arrival and didn't answer his phone so I was left standing in reception . No cold water only hot from both taps . Building is beautiful but looking shabby in comman areas.

Large rooms with bath in the bathroom.

No breakfast available which was disappointing. Building undergoing refurbishment on the cheap by the looks of it. Pity it could be such a wonderful place.

Great staff nice location , lovely historical building. Easy motorway access. Nice pub up the road within walking distance.

Stayed at Riseley Hall last year and although a good location hotel, I feel the standards have dropped, no food or drink available at the hotel.

Staff member was basic at best. Not welcoming, seemed put out to deal with me. Explained nothing. No personality no enthusiasm no help. Not a great ambassador for such a lovely place. Nothing was open either, no facilities on the website were available at all.

Beautiful place. Building works going on but doesn't detract from the overall views. Lovely place to look at.Room was great. Big!! Clean, lovely and warm, comfy bed big TV, quiet (until builders arrived) Loads of parking. Great value room.

This is an old period property. Our room was dated and needs updating. The hotel is in the process of doing this and they are also renovating the public areas.

The room was large with a comfortable bed and a pleasant view of the grounds. Unlike other hotels we have stayed in recently, the room was heated to a pleasant temperature. Set back from the road, so very quiet in the night.

The driveway was flooded. Water from cold tap was Luke warm.

The property has lots of character. It is located very close to the motorway and ideal for a very reasonably priced stop over on a long journey if you just require a spacious comfortable room. Excellent places to eat close by.

Very tired carpets with duct tape holding things together. Very poor house keeping we both didn’t have bedding changed. Wall paper hanging off wall (room 4). Heating was so so hot windows wide open to let heat out, waste of money to hotel.

Absolutely fantastic staff very polite and kind with lots of get up and go. Great building from outside lovely garden and some good architectural period features inside. Very good breakfast (except sausage not cooked enough).

There was only one person on duty the whole time. It made the place feel a bit lonely! We have been staying at Risley Hall for many years, we love the place and its situation. However, we have seen it go down and down in those years. The person in charge this time though seemed to really believe in the place and made a real effort to make us feel at home. Hopefully, it reached the bottom and is now on its way up again. We did see signs of that.

We had a lovely room, in the roof or so it seemed. It was comfortable, hidden away and quiet with lots of character. The bathroom was okay, a bit tired and the water could have done with being a tad hotter.

The second time we stayed we were seen to by a young girl. She first of all out us in a tiny little cramped room and wouldn’t bring glasses up the stairs for us. So when I went down to collect I asked any chance we could have a slightly bigger room well she gave us the next one a long it was so much better. But very very squeaky bed. The young girl on reception just wanted to chat to the young man stood at the end of reception obviously they knew each other chatting away. All in I do think this a beautiful hotel just wish all staff were trained the same way and more respectful.

Brilliant always have space for us both times we’ve been over there now. First time was amazing the staff were great and helpful so late at night. And put us in a locley room other side of the hotel. Also brought us glasses to our room ! Very kind lady! Very comfy bed and room it was beautiful.
