How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It was a great location. The apartment was spotless. It was really comfortable. Loved the shower gel my favourite. The owner gave clear instruction on how to get there , where the key was and made sure we had a lovely stay. All round a nice place to stay will definitely go back

A lovely apartment perfectly located for York City Centre. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Clare the owner is helpful, responsive and so patient. We would definitely stay again 😊

Location was amazing. Couple of mins walk from an NCP and 5 mins into centre. The beds were sooooo comfortable - as a simba mattress owner this was a nice home from home experience.

Nothing. Everything was perfect. Even though we arrived probably on one of York's wettest days, the apartment was warm and very cosy.
The apartment was very clean. The beds were really comfortable. Particularly appreciated Clare's prompt response to all our queries, her comprehensive instructions on how to access the property and also that she let us know when the apartment was ready so that we get in earlier than expected. She made us feel very welcome.

Parking was not available at property, fortunately Clare was able to provide details of secure parking within a short walking distance.
Comfortable and close to city centre. I felt safe and secure in this property. Clare was absolutely amazing and offered all the necessary advice for best parking and went out of her way to have the room prepared on short notice and earlier than usual check in. Thank you Clare for making our stay as comfortable as possible.

The second bed was quite small for 2 adults but it was still comfortable.
The property is well suited in the city. The host is very nice and provides essentials like towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are also available. She also left little Biscoff biscuits. Tea and coffee packets are available with milk and sugar. Beds were comfortable, no springy or stiff feeling.

Limited or no hot water. The property needs a real deep clean. I found two bundles of hair ( of which one were blue hair ???). I wont run the property down because of the dirt but a deep clean and repaiting of doors and cuboards , using high quality paint, will do magic.
Location. Very helpfull and responsive host. Ease of access and very quiet.

Excellent communication from Clare. Very smooth check in and check out. Great location right by the river and a comfortable pub opposite. Well stocked with towels, plates, cutlery, cups and glasses. Very clean and a nice personal message from Claire.

If you stay a few nights there are no wardrobes or hanging space in the apartment . Didn’t bother us for one night stay

Could’ve been flexible in terms of leaving luggage for an hour or two subsequent to the 10am checkout. Instead we went to the york station 5 hours prior to our train and the station didnt have a storage facility for luggage.
Lovely location. Very kind and hospitable host and simple albeit cosy design. We loved everything about this apartment and the location

We have just got back from york staying in the Riverside apartments the apartment was excellent very clean and comfortable and very central to all the amenities would definitely stay there again and clare was very helpful from start to finish 🙂
