Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomKitchen is big and well supplied with crockery/pots etc. Albeit some dishes were dirty (felt like someone needed to do a deep clean through the cupboards). The backdoor lock needs replacing (very temperemental).
Beautiful old charming cottage. Communication with the owner was good & easy. Nice size kitchen, and great having a dishwasher & washing machine. Lovely big seperate dinningroom and seperate big lounge. Both living rooms have woodburners (we did not use). To note in the description is that both bedrooms are upstairs - but up different stairs. The one bedroom has an ensuite, the other not. There is however oddly only a bath in the bathroom downstairs, no shower (there is a handshower in the bath that is bizzarely attached about a metre above the bath...maybe for a small child to shower??). Outside very pleasant spot with table & chairs. Overall a totally charming place.

United KingdomThere was a step up from the kitchen to the dining room which neither of us saw so we tripped on it I think it should have a hazard strip across it.It was a shame that around the outside table which was in a lovely secluded are hadn’t been swept.

AustraliaA map showing the access to the cottage would be useful. Quite a few nettles to be careful of.
This is a lovely old brick and flint cottage that has a lot of character in a great location. It was an ideal base for exploring NW Norfolk. Everything worked well and the good wifi was a saviour with poor mobile coverage here. The cottage garden was delightful.

United KingdomNot that I am complaining but if I had to recommend anything it would be to remove the bath in the ground floor bathroom and replace with a shower cubicle. This would be more beneficial than a bath with a hand held shower if say there were 4 adults (husband wife x 2)
The location and setting were perfect with a short walk to the local Pub/Restaurant that was also very nice with a good range of beer and lovely food. Two log burners kept the cottage really cosy and were very easy to operate. We loved the location and the cottage and will certainly return and recommend to others. Garden was great also.

United KingdomThe walls to neighbouring house very thin and could hear the baby crying in the night next door. Velux blind could be useful in shower en-suite. Floors very creeky. Again everyone could hear you moving about.
Quirky and cosy. Loved the fires. The garden with its fairy lights. Parking easy. Lovely pub within walking distance.

United KingdomThe heating in the downstairs bathroom could have been stronger / hotter.
Lovely location in a quiet village but still close to essential shops with some good places to eat nearby. The property is 2 old stone cottages knocked into 1 dwelling so both double bedrooms are of a good size & very comfortable. There are actually 2 log burners, 1 is in dinning room & the other situated in the lounge. Although we stayed during a cold snap during February 2023, we only used the 1 log burner & the host had provided a generous supply of logs. Recommended!

United KingdomCannot be helped as it's part of the character of this property, but you can't get up in the night for a toilet without waking everyone. The floorboards upstairs are so creaky :)
The character and charm of this cottage is wonderful. The log burners and good supply of logs were great, although it was plenty warm enough without the burners. The cottage is spacious inside and out and supplied with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

United KingdomWe were happy with everything but I guess, if you had mobility issues the staircases could be very challenging
Peaceful location but walking distance to a great pub, The Crown. Beautiful beaches were close by, lovely walks, quaint villages and pretty coastal towns. So many good gastro pubs were just 5 to 10 mins away. The Dabbling Duck a fantastic find! The garden was perfect for our dog with pleasant seating areas. The garden was a bit messy but that didn't effect our stay and the dead seed heads were popular with the wild birds. The cottage was comfortable with plenty of hot water. The bed was comfy and the bedroom nice and dark. It was an old cottage so the floorboards do squeak but this adds to the ambience! The king bed diesnt have an ensuite so we opted for the smaller double which suited us fine. Netflix was included which was nice on our rainy evening! Overall, a great stay
