How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Beautiful rooms. High quality and great attention to detail. Restaurant and pub were excellent as were the staff and management, they couldn’t do enough. Breakfast fantastic. When I’m next in the area I won’t be searching!! Straight to the Rose and Crown.

The staff couldn’t have been nicer. I had an early start (before their breakfast time) and they made me a goody bag to take with me. After a really hectic day it was so lovely to be looked after so well.

The shower. A little complicated to use and too long waiting under cold water for hot water to come through. Good when it came.

A couple cloudy days but wasn’t an issue
BREAKFAST was amazing, the staff wer fantastic Anne and all the cleaners wer outstanding and went above and beyond for our stay, couldn’t of done any more for us.

I would recommend requesting a room located at the rear of the property. Ours was to the front and there was quite a bit of traffic noise.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The bedroom was comfortable and very well equipped. The breakfast was freshly cooked and excellent.

There was nothing to dislike. We will visit here again.
We enjhoyed an excellent breakfast, in the very convivial dining area. We felt perfectly at home here. There was a choice ranging from a continental style breakfast to a full English and many further choices in between.

The member of staff who greeted us was far too rushed to greet us well or see that the radiator in our room was turned on. We had a very cold rest on arrival. Were it not for this, we would have rated the Rose and Crown excellent.
We were amazed by the quality of the cooking and kept sending our compliments to the chef. In the morning, we met her and congratulated and thanked her in person.

The plug for the kettle was beneath the dressing table so the kettle had to be on the floor which makes it vulnerable to an accidental spill/burn.

Carpets in Room 7 were quite heavily stained and need either thorough cleaning or replacement. Made the room feel grubby even though it wasn’t.
Perfect location for an overnight stay when working in the area. Good quality pub grub, served quickly and efficiently by the friendly team.

The water pressure wasn’t great and the WiFi didn’t work 2/3 of the time we were there.
Bedroom was very spacious, bed was very comfortable! The food in the pub was delicious and the service was great. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

The main road was nosier than I'd like.

Maybe we missed it but were not aware the rooms were in a separate building. Main building locked until the exact time breakfast started so we had to wait outside in the cold.

Best pub I have stayed in for years! Rooms situated in adjacent cottage so very quiet. Rooms spotlessly clean and comfortable. Pub served good beer and food in clean and friendly surrounds. Food was of a high standard with a great breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

The mushroom risotto was a bit small although very tasty. Could have done with being about 50% bigger. Tricky to work out which keys to use for main entrance and which for the room door. Could do with labelling maybe.
I had a nice large room which still had the original internal shutters. Everything appeared in good order and worked as expected. Nice clean bathroom. Nice terrace area attached to the room which would be handy in summer. Ample parking and friendly staff.
