Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe furniture was extremely uncomfortable, I don't think the settee and chair had any padding! And the chairs around the 'dining' table were very strangely designed and not comfortable for a woman. The curtains in the bedroom were so thin the street light lit up the room. The facilities are not for tall people! Because of the sloping roof I hit my head a few times on the ceiling and I'm only 5'2". After finding hairs in the bed, on the bathroom floor and glasses - smeared and chipped, I found it difficult to accept that the rest of the apartment was clean. Bedroom door doesn't click shut properly so when windy (and it was for 2 nights) it rattles and then opens sporadically.
very useful to have parking and be able to walk into St Ives Centre.

United KingdomI was asked to transfer money in someone’s bank account first. The house was very dirty. There is no isolation of any kind. We were staying on the ground floor flat and you could hear every single step of the persons from upstairs, water through the drains and the windows were not useful at all, you can hear every single noise from the street and people walking by. If there is a child in the property they will blame the child, like we were told the noise was from the child ( living upstairs). It was just a pathetic excuse and left me with a bitter taste and i wish I could tell the parents of the child how the host is talking about them.
Location is nice even if was up the hill.

United KingdomThe apartment was pretty much flawless. Only critique I could give is that temperature was quite difficult to control, often too hot or too cold, however that comes with it being a loft conversion.
The location of the apartment was fantastic: the balcony had a stunning sea view, but wasn't battered by the strong winds. The apartment was comfy overall.

AustraliaThe narrow stairs, the really narrow walkways due to it being an attic! Loft. No tumble dryer or dishwasher as stated in the facilities descriptor. We had our stay interrupted when the water was turned off and the bathroom floor ripped up-apparently there was a leak and it was leaking into the apartment below. We weren't given notice this interruption was going to happen. Not impressed
The view was amazing. After we eventually found it it was a good location. Parking was included.

United KingdomCould hear the people above moving around. There was also a leak from above which had been dealt with before we arrived, however the bedroom carpet was soaking wet, became slippy when walking into the hallway. Some of the towels were dirty and the general cleanliness was below par.
The location, parking, view and size of the cottage also the kitchen was well equipped.

United KingdomI'm 6'4" so the very low ceilings were challenging. Location almost at the highest point in St Ives was also hard to manage at times, after a long day on foot or after a large supper and a few drinks 😄
Price was good, free parking. St Ives is always a lovely place to visit.

United KingdomSlightly easier -to -read -by lamps in bedrooms would be nice. Apart from that everything lovely. Bit of a hike uphill from station but the lady who looked after the apartment kindly told us about the no 2 bus from cinema every 10 minutes that drops you at the door. Do put that on the info table in living room for others. Definitely worth knowing if you come by train not car , like us.
Lovely spacious light living room .Comfortable seating. Nice plain decor apart from purple lights (less keen). Warm rooms. Comfy beds. Good cooking facilities if you wanted to cook. (We didn't).Excellent curry home delivery.

United Kingdomthe shower tub needed a mat as it is very slick and dangerous.
The appartment was delightful, bright, lots of windows and a great view. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen plus a washer & dryer. Everything worked well and the host was very kind, helpful & available. The parking was adequate and the bathroom facilities were good as well. We would highly recommend staying there. We loved the city and got some good exercise walking up and down the hill to the town. This is definitely not a good fit for someone with mobility issues.

United KingdomHad a delightful stay in this lovely little cottage and St Ives is such a wonderful get away from the city life, whether its for 1 day or 1 week. Lea checked us in and was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was spotless and spacious, we had a very comfortable stay, and an excellent night's sleep. Looking forward to coming back again in the summer :)

United KingdomWe stayed from 23rd to the 27th December. I told the owned we didn't want to be in the loft apartment & he said we wouldn't be & guess where we were! In the loft. The owner told me the apartment had been recently renovated, well if this was the case I would have not liked to have seen it before the so called renovation. The bath panel was dirty as was the bath screen the radiator was rusty as was the toilet tissue holder & waste bin. The only place I have stayed where you have to supply your own toilet tissue. The bottle of hand soap was watered down. Cracked & broken porthole windows that had been leaking. Broken small table in the lounge. A curtain across a space that was meant as a wardrobe. Cold air coming in the Velux skylight so it was no surprise there were heaters dotted around all over the place. Banged my head every day on the sloping ceilings on a regular basis. A cupboard in the kitchen full of diy stuff, paint etc. The outside door of the property did not lock but the inner one did. We were under the impression we were being given the cottage on the ground floor. I would ask for a partial refund but I know what the answer will be. I have taken lots of photos as proof of this poor apartment. I would advise anyone thinking of booking to avoid it like the plague. FROM TWO VERY UNHAPPY GUESTS.
The view from the room was the only plus point.
