Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe pillows on the bed were pretty awful but no other complaints
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. Our room (205) was just stunning and very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had lovely views of the gardens (when it wasn't foggy) The staff were very attentive and professional. Shout out to Tim who was such a gentleman and made us feel very special (if only there were more Tim's in the world) We didn't eat in the restaurant at rossington but the chef was kind enough to prepare a sandwich for myself in the middle of preparing Sunday lunch feast for the other guests which was very much appreciated. I will definitely be booking again and bringing my daughter for afternoon tea.

Superb freshly cooked breakfast and continental. All waitress served no buffet(Yeah). gallons of coffee tea etc. Tim looked after us with pride and Debbie made sure our stay was memorable. Stopped in the Northumberland Room. Massive bed probably the most comfortable we have slept on. Then there is the bath, what can i say, big enough for four people. Lovely views over the garden. Definitely be back.

United KingdomOur bedroom was a lovely size with a spotless bathroom. The bed was hugely comfortable. However, I would have liked information about the hotel etc. in a folder in the room. The window frames and carpet could have done with a good clean. However these are small things and didn't spoil our fantastic stay at all.
The skill and expertise of the staff, particularly the manager Tim, was superb. The tasting menu was delicious and my husband and I had a fantastic evening. Congratulations to the chef and all staff. We will be back!

United KingdomNo ones fault but the fact they had a wedding going on seemed to distract the staff away from ordinary guests like ourselves, perhaps extra staff needed to be drafted in or just keep the hotel exclusive for larger functions. Our room allocation meant that we weren't disturbed though.
The room was sumptuous, beautiful colour scheme and had a very comfy bed! The food was beautiful, good menu choices but a little cool when it reached us. The staff were very friendly although seemed stretched as there was a wedding going on. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble

Spacious rooms with lovely furnishings. Only issue was no blind/curtains in the amazingly large bathroom. Thankfully not overlooked by cheeky squirrels as far as we know!

SpainThe toilet didn´t flush very well in our room and the key got stuck so we had to use another exit.
I honestly have to say this hotel was everything and more we could have wished for, we felt like we lived in Downtown Abbey. the room was sensational - and to top it off the hotel manager was so nice and kind. We fed the peacocks in the morning and ran around acres of earth, we really felt connected to nature and a little slice oh history. The food is exceptionally good too, the food reminded me of the Ivy in London.

United KingdomOur had to be changed twice, due to various issues (no key available for the first room, no window blinds/curtains on the large bathroom window on the second room), but the staff very very helpful about this, and out final room was lovely. The room was not serviced during our 2 day stay (though I know some hotels have been doing this due to Covid, but we were not told this was the case)
Staff were very friendly and helpful, and resolved issues quickly. The rooms all looked beautiful, and were very spacious. The food in the restaurant was excellent and very good value for money.

The Hotel is stunning and the overall ambiance is unbelivable and takes your breath away. we stayed in the Churchhill Suite and the room was so comfortable and the bathroom was huge and well equipped. The food at dinner was 5 star and no complaints at all. The only item that was below par was having to order your breakfast the night before and it appeared the next morning as if it had been precooked and kept semi warm and did let the overall standard down. A great experience overall.

United KingdomA few marks were found on the bedroom wall - looked like something had been spilt up the wall. It was mentioned just after check in but nothing done about it while we were there. We were in the Mary Scarlet room and music was playing most of the night - you could only hear it from the bathroom but it was still loud enough to hear at 4:40am. Don’t know the purpose of the music at that time as it didn’t seem like a function was ongoing. Small things really but I would still recommend the hotel.
Gorgeous building & ground with rooms done to an excellent standard. Huge bathroom & very comfortable bed. Service was very good although slow at times.
