How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

the room was basic as only needed for one night, but mattress was a little lumpy and could feel the springs. lovely hotel but dated.

This is an old building, with interesting references to it's history throughout the hotel. The only improvement would be a financial investment in some of the public areas which are looking a little dated. However, with what the World has experienced over the last couple of years, I think we all need to support hospitality!
We knew what to expect from our stay as I'm familiar with the Island and know the area well. We were pleasantly surprised. The level of service was great, although one of our rooms wasn't quite ready (we were early), the reception staff and cleaners worked very hard to accommodate us. Breakfast was great. Didn't have chance to use the pool as we were there for the IoW Festival. Standard accommodation on a budget, where everyone worked hard to make us welcome. Thank you.

There is a really irritating green nightlight on the shaver socket that you cannot turn off. This stopped me sleeping. The mattress was uncomfortable. The WiFi isn’t available in bedrooms! The pool is only open during the day.
Location is amazing. You can see the sea from the dining room, the pier is 2 minutes away. The room was clean, en suite and had a desk.

creaking floorboards (disturbed sleep one morning). lack of pressure in shower.. large kettle (difficult to get into sink to fill), would advise smaller ones.
comfortable, clean, ease of access, had a bar, good breakfast, exceptional staff. they had no hesitation in helping when we had a concern. they were efficient, very friendly & welcoming.

slippery bathroom floor, near miss with toilet bowl after slipping on floor. bed was very low to the ground. mattress was very uncomfortable with springs digging in.

The hotel has not been updated for a long time, the equipment, furniture and fixtures are old, the pool has gray tiles and rusty metal handrails, looks very abandoned. There is no way to get coffee at the reception in the morning, as the bar starts working only at 12
The hotel is located in a very convenient location right on the seashore, near many cafes and shops, a bus stop. Friendly, polite staff. Spacious bright room. A swimming pool with a clean aoda, a Jacuzzi with hot water that you can use for £1 - it was a wonderful morning for me.

The bathroom shower is very bad either you get very hot water or cold water.

The very small lift was scary. It started and stopped with a 'bump'. Our room was very hot and stuffy. The main ventilation was from the tiny shower room but we couldn't leave it's door open for cool air because of two BRIGHT green lights over the mirror which shone straight into the bedroom and kept us awake..At about 10pm a very noisy machine started up outside our window. It may have been an air conditioning unit. Outside our window was a very untidy bin area. It was dirty and scruffy out there. To be fair we booked the last available room. Perhaps we got the dregs. It was however clean. The bed sloped downwards on my husband's side.
The hotel was quiet and attractively decorated. The receptionist was very helpful as were the staff at breakfast.

The balcony, i paid nearly £100 extra for a balcony and it was just some dirty, rusty chairs
The history of the hotel is amazing, its old and a bit worn out but still absolutely beautiful.
