Just as few few things but definitely not game changers as I am booked in again in July! There were no bulbs in the light above the mirror, the room as very warm and the radiator wouldn't turn off, we would have preferred an earlier breakfast. I have know doubt that if we had raised any of these they would have been promptly resolved we just didn't think it that important to mention. We had a great stay!

Spoke to the lady owner when we arrived and she was lovely as were all of the staff we came into contact with. The food was excellent and we loved the location having close access to Aira Force.

This would have been a 5* review but for one error. When booking we made it clear (and it was acknowledged) that we wanted a twin bed room. On arrival we were given a double bed room. This was pointed out and we were told that the housekeeper would come and sort it out. At this stage I just wanted to rest but had to wait for the housekeeper to turn up. It turns out that it's the housekeepers day off and the young lad who checked us in had to make the changes. Problem was he had to wait for others to arrive before he could make the changes. Turns out that our requirement was not logged into the computer system. Such a small and unnecessary mistake that had a significant impact.

The hotel has a great location. The food was excellent and covered the wide range of requirements that we had within the party. Being close to the waterfalls is a real bonus. The room was well equipped. The staff were great. Very friendly and accommodating.

I was disappointed to learn the breakfast was only served between 08:30 - 09:30 and this was too late for me to have a proper start to the day. Most people start early in the lakes for walking and activities. But the staff were kind enough to prepare a packed breakfast for me which wasn't the ideal choice of items, but did a good enough job. Thank you.

I loved the location, the parking, the hotel entrance, the friendliness of the staff, the room, the bed linen. toiletries and the towels. Dinner was exceptional with a great choice for vegetarians and desserts. Reasonably priced, if not on the higher end of a pub meal, but probably Lakes based pricing for the area. I was not there for breakfast I left at 08:00 and they did not serve until 08:30 which was a disappointment.

Bathroom door did not close properly. Breakfast could be half an hour earlier.

Whilst the bedroom was comfortable everything was a bit tired and in need of an upgrade. The bathroom was functional but not great. In particular, the bath panel was badly cracked.

We did have a little issue with the plumbing, and the floor was rather creaky.

We chose this hotel as a stopover, but wished we could have stayed longer. It is an attractive old pub, set in a tiny hamlet, close to walking trails. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the ambience of the public rooms was charming. Our room was small but comfortable: the bed was also small but comfy. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was served cooked to order. We would recommend this hotel as a destination, rather than a stopover.

I’m glad I bought my ear plugs as the floor boards are creaky and the rooms are above the pub, so noise expected. It didn’t affect me though with my ear plugs. So recommend you bring a pair to have a alround comfortable stay/sleep.

Set in a beautiful location, the staff were exceptionally friendly, polite and professional. The room was comfortable, I had the lamb shank for evening which was delicious and the breakfast included was also very nice.

Rooms outdated and there was renovation being done in the room next door which lead to loads of dust and smell from what I assume was welding into our room.

Breakfast was very good we paid for dinner as well which was very pricy but also good. Staff was very friendly and very accommodating for a dog companions. The area around was stunning!

Good location near to Ullswater and Glenridding. Lovely, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and very good evening meal - fairly standard bar menu but well-presented and good portions. Large room with good facilities.
