Everything way great except for the mobile phone reception which was negligible and the television reception. The main channels seemed OK but e.g. ITV3 kept breaking up and tended to spoil our viewing.

Excellent breakfast choice and all good. We dined at the hotel a couple of times and were very happy with the meals.

Only decaf coffee option was instant. These days it should be easy for a hotel to buy a cafetiere and pack of decaf coffee.

Perfect situation for walkers. Lovely walks from door of hotel and beautiful views. Hotel had character - I had a very spacious room with lovely local toiletries. All staff were friendly. Evening meal - as well as usual pub food, there were some tasty options with vegetables. I enjoyed my beef stew that was packed with a variety of vegetables. My friend was pleased her vegetable lasagne was also full of a variety of vegetables and not just the usual tomato and red peppers. It was possible to have a twin/double room for single occupancy at a reasonable price. Already, we are planning to meet up at The Royal next year.

Room card didn't work so had to carry round the physical key. Nothing bad, but only thing I could think of.

Breakfast was great! Room was a little warm as the radiator thermostat didn't seem to work, but opening the window fixed it. Great welcome and would use again if I needed to be in the area.

My room was a little cramped with not much storage space; but I gathered that other rooms were fine.

Service and food very good, pleasant quiet countryside location with garden area. Adequate parking, staff helpful. Unfortunately I had to curtail my stay owing to an injury (sustained elsewhere) but received a credit with no hassle.

Excellent dinner, very tasty and generous portions. Pate, rabbit stew, chicken and blackpudding pie, pavlova - all excellent. Room at the top, comfortable bed. TV had Netflix. Great breakfast.

Clean and functional room. Bathroom was basic but all worked fine (radiator in bathroom was welcomed to dry my clothes from the weather). Food was very pleasant (lamb pie for dinner was excellent and breakfast was good). Staff were pleasant and the bar had a relaxed feel about it. I enjoyed the stay

Breakfast started at 8:30 in the morning unfortunately I had to leave at 7: 30am if I would have known this I wouldn't have paid for two breakfasts

Both dinner and breakfast were plentiful and very tasty. location was great for walking to nearby waterfall. I thought it might be noisy as it is an older building and the floor does creak bur we were not disturbed and slept very well.

Menu mentions that half serving of desserts are available but this does not include the pavlova. It may be useful to reword the menu.

We have stayed here before and it was as good as previously. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and great walks available near by.
