For myself,everything was OK,nothing that did not like.

Unfortunately, the lift is broken and it was a bit of a struggle getting our bags up the stairs.

We loved the vintage style of the hotel. The room had all that we needed and the included breakfast was a very welcome bonus. The wait staff were particularly nice, attentive and helpful.

My room windows were only single glazed, as it's on a corner with traffic lights at both sides. It was exceptionally noisy. The bathroom sash window, top window was open and couldn't be closed. Made the bathroom cold and very noisy at night, it was a windy night and the window rattled. There were also boy racers outside from 11 til 1pm. Not the hotels fault, but would not have been as bad if Windows were better.

Lovely and clean with comfy beds snd pillows. Good tv channels, inc Netflix. Staff helpful. Breakfast good.

The room had a slight smell of fresh paint. Breakfast staff were excellent; some of the other staff were less welcoming. The car park could be tidied up.

Cob webs on windows. Temperature of the room. Lack of soundproofing on windows there was a big gap on double windows. Door locks. Uneven floors

Our only disappointment was the room. It was cold and right at the other end of the hotel. However, the lovely receptionist did help finding us a room for as I had made an error with the date.

I appreciate that the hotel cant control the traffic or 'boy racer' mentality of the locals but if you know that groups of vehicles sit outside your establishment at 01:30 in the morning and have 'who can rev their Subaru the loudest' competitions, you would double glaze or at least try to soundproof the windows. When I asked at reception if it happens often? the reply was, "yep, and they aren't even kids, its grown adults!"... so its a recognised issue by a known group of individuals!

The hotel is excellent value for money and i can imagine that it used to be a very grand place. It still retains some of its charm and as previously pointed out it genuinely is excellent value for the money but venture past the reception and dining area and its getting a little 'tired' and in need of some TLC. I would definitely stay here again just because of the price.

When we needed help with information on local buses, we felt that the 2 staff on reception didn't really go out of their way to help us gain the information we needed. Like, we didn't really feel like they went the extra mile. When we came down for breakfast, the room where breakfast was at felt cold and my boyfriend felt his entire breakfast, minus the egg was served cold. The breakfast hours were 07:00-09:00 which was a bit early for us.

We loved the amazing shower, how lovely the hotel was decorated and how helpful some of the staff were. The staff offered to carry my suitcase on two separate occasions, up and down the stairs. We were welcomed with a really warm smile, by a man called Colin who made us feel right at home. Also, we thought it was thoughtful how a heater had been placed in our room, in case we needed it.
