Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomnothing I can think of
communication was great even when running late was quickly reassured all good. breakfast was plentiful and catered for vegetarians, the night we arrived we felt cold so requested extra blankets which were quickly supplied nothing was too much trouble, we were cold as we'd been travelling all day from Cardiff and it is definitely warmer in the South! there was planty of tea coffee, milk, hot water shower and a lovely sea view from our room which was worth paying the extra for. staff very friendly and had local information the Rutland is perfectly placed on a Tram route which we used all the time we were there. we prebooked the theatre and afternoon tea at the ballroom, I dont think you would have got in by just truning up also the illuminated train and boat was running but fully booked so if interested book ahead for that as well. we did the tram to Bispath? and got off and walked down through the lights which was a great way to see them and the illuminated trams went passed as well. we had a 3 day tram pass bought on the tram which was a bit cheaper. we ate at the Ginn Pub next stop up on the tram and that was good value pub food. I had not been to Blackpool before and always wanted to, would recommend the Rutland for a couples trip.

United KingdomNothing I didn’t like or anything that would prevent me returning. Nit-picking here as personally I like to read full detailed reviews so I know what to expect and decide whether to book or not to avoid disappointment, so in order to help other like minded folk 2 of the 4 pillows being softer would have been a bonus so there’s an option for preference, everyone’s different. I found them too firm for me but I’m sure if I asked the hostess would have gave me some but I was comfortable enough so didn’t like to bother unnecessarily Bar is cash only, we never knew this till drinks were ordered and poured, host very generously allowed us to pay later thankfully saving embarrassment, to be fair we should probably have checked before ordering so partially our fault. No take-aways etc allowed on premises, we usually eat out anyway but I know plenty people like to grab chips etc on way home, I’ve done it myself, just something to consider. Credit card details need to be given on arrival, I’ve never experienced this at a B&B, normally only larger chains when staying in cities, but again just something to remember to have with you in this day of Apple pay etc. Breakfast to me had a taste of lard or dripping through it, still perfectly edible and didn’t ruin it but we did both notice it, especially on the eggs. Plenty other food to choose from though so no issue and I still took the eggs on second day so clearly not a big deal. Tiny upgrades to room such as new light shade etc would be ideal as the entire place is really modern and tastefully decorated then there’s a couple of things that look forgotten and not in keeping with the rest of the place. Does it matter, no not at all but just doesn’t look quite right.
Extra comfortable bed as it has mattress topper, genuinely comfiest bed I’ve had in Blackpool thus far and I’ve tried many. Hosts very friendly and accommodating. Entire place was immaculate, one of, if not THE cleanest places I’ve stayed. Lovely modern and tastefully decorated public areas inc large lounge/bar area which is well stocked and has large tv and spectacular views up and down the coast. Plenty toilet roll and toiletries provided in room with added extras like shower cap. Superb pressure in the shower and ample hot water. Clean kettle and tea coffee making facilities. Plenty on offer at breakfast, fruit, yoghurt, cooked items etc. Tram stop straight across the road. All in all a really nice place to stay.

United KingdomI would have preferred a more central location but that is out of their control.
Blackpool is inundated with small hotels/B&Bs, a lot are like the Rutland and meet expectations. The only way they can make a difference is with their customer service and the Rutlands was superb.

United KingdomRoom was a bit small (but still very comfortable).
The whole family hotel is spotlessly clean, and maintenance seems to be meticulously carried out, such as fresh brilliant white sealant in shower and around hand basin. The room was "small but perfectly formed" if you will excuse the expression! The full English breakfast was very good. There is a school of thought which states that the sausage can make or break a breakfast... In this case, the sausages were excellent. Location is "sea front" and very handy for trams and attractions. Lovely hosts.
