Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location was perfect and the house had everything you could need. Decorated to a high standard and being able to park by the house was brilliant.

United KingdomThe bed though very comfortable was a standard or small double. We prefer king-size where possible. The bathroom was downstairs and very small. No bath.A few colourful plants in the back courtyard would have been nice when so much detail indoors.Too many cushions on the bed...looked nice but needed removing before you could get in.
Excellent location.Could walk into town and to the beach and harbour. We left the car in the car port and walked everywhere. The apartment though small was very well equipped. The shower was both clean and powerful.Plenty of hot water.Attractive and spotless. We were unlucky with the weather very cold and windy but the apartment was lovely and warm to return to after a bracing walk along the seafront. The small patio at the back looked inviting but weather wasn't suitable for sitting out. Plenty of boutiques and charity shops to browse and we would like to go back in the summer season though I imagine the narrow streets will be very busy. Good value for 2 people.Sofa bed so could have one child .

United KingdomSmall things but we couldn’t use the tv on the main channels just applications like Netflix . Also if you’re providing coffee and tea it would be good to have some of the little milks to use. Like I say though these are little things and it didn’t detract from our stay.
Very clean and well located. Quiet location but close to main town.

United KingdomNumber 1 Salt Yard beautifully decorated. Very comfortable, with free car parking what's not too like! EXCELLENT location, minutes (at least 5) from the vibrant high street. Lots of pubs and restaurants to suit all price brackets. Easy strolls to the beach front and using the smooth paved walkways there are ample walks to Herne Bay, Tankerton and beyond! Park your car and take your car to the other seaside resorts or even Canterbury. I would happily recommend the venue and location to friends

Great location in the centre of town, but off the high st so quiet. The town is full of small privately owned shops and had lots of character. Plenty of places to eat. Seafood is a specialty of the town and is sensational

United KingdomThe bed was very creaky and we hadn’t realised it was only a double. The settee was extremely uncomfortable. A dishcloth would have been useful.
The house was very tastefully decorated and very clean. It was perfectly situated close to the town and sea front with parking

United KingdomDownstairs toilet was a very minor inconvenience during the night, but that wouldn't stop us from staying again. The only thing we needed during our stay which wasn't in the property was a bread knife. Everything else was excellent!
Great location, close to all shops and only a 10-15 min walk to the seafront. Great to have free onsite parking. Exceptionally clean and well-appointed. Very quiet in the evenings and during the night.

United KingdomLovely, modern, one bed townhouse situated just behind the High Street but still fairly quiet. All we needed was supplied and everything was spotlessly clean. Five minute walk to the front and just 2 minutes to shops, cafes and restaurants, including a Wetherspoons for a cheap breakfast with bottomless cups of coffee

United KingdomThe duvet was too heavy & warm for stay, for my liking, may I suggest getting a lighter one for the warmer months. One of the shelves was missing from the fridge door which was a shame as I had to place bottles/juice containers on the shelves which took up room.
The location was great. The cottage was great, as it provided, everything you needed, fridge, freezer, washing machine & tumble dryer, & Undercover carpark was also a added bonus, as it wasn't used whilst I was there.

United KingdomCould be a bit too small for a larger party than us.
A very nice little house, more than enough for a good holiday stay. We stayed with my husband and a 4 month old baby and were more than happy with facilities, cleanness of the house, comfort that it provides with well thought through amenities. Very comfortable bed to my liking. The property is very close to the sea and to the high street. Special thank you to hosts for the list of places to eat in the welcoming folder.
