How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like .
We’ve stayed there before and plan to stay again . The staff are lovely , I slept extremely well , and the continental breakfast offered lots to choose from .

The only thins is breakfast which is pretty scarce for a sports person. The room doesn't have a refrigerator, so if you buy smith for yourself, there would be no way to store it in cold.
The location was perfect for my sports activities at Sandown park, and the staff is extremely welcoming, attentive, and professional. The beds were comfy, the room warm and clean.

The room was not cleaned well, plastic beakers from bathroom were behind fan in main room. Bathroom cold water tap did not run properly

Nothing springs to mind.
We chose Sandown Park Lodge because it is close (15-20 min walk) to a railway station (Esher) that has frequent trains running to London Waterloo, had on-site parking and good restaurants nearby. Communications with the Lodge was easy and efficient. It was easy to get to being just a couple of miles off the A3. The room was compact but comfortable and whilst the décor is a little bit dated it was spotlessly clean. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was a continental style buffet and sufficient for our needs. We highly recommend two nearby restaurants: The Giggling Squid and the Sherpa Kitchen. We would happily stay at Sandown Lodge again.

Whilst breakfast was lovely and very good, would have liked a cooked English option.
Room and facilities were great, bed very comfortable. Good shower and spotless. The Receptionist (forget her name) was very pleasant and helpful.

Heating in the room. It was down really low when entered so bit nippy. Room warmed up quickly but when it went off overnight the room became quite chilly. Perhaps automatic timings need to be adjusted. The water pressure in the bathroom was disappointing. The tap at the sink spluttered and the shower pressure was weak. Would have been lovely to have a hot shower in the morning.
Location is excellent. The girl on Reception was helpful and pleasant. Lovely to chat to and always had a smile on her face. Toiletries useful. Breakfast was ok, cereals, porridge, some fruit, toast and refillable Tea and coffee - basic but adequate for my needs. Alternate milk sachets in the room would have been appreciated.

It is difficult to walk from the hotel to the Terrace bar. A kind security guard had to unlock a gate for us to get through. The Sundown complex is designed for cars, not pedestrians.

Sorry - The bed was not comfortable, I understand the need for twin beds becoming a single (king split) but there was literally nothing over the top of the join, and with a very soft mattress it made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was very simple, could do with a better selection.
Great location with amazing and friendly staff, Very welcoming and you felt nothing was too much trouble at all. Clean room, and internal room facilities were satisfactory for a one night stay
