Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was a big disappointment. No mention when booking that the breakfast was a limited continental breakfast or that it would consist mainly of carbs - toast, croissants, two types of danish pastries, bananas, grapefruit segments and two flavours of yoghurt. Not what was expected at all!
Location was good - close to family.

United KingdomMy daughter struggled to fall asleep as the sofa bed mattress was very squeaky. She eventually fell asleep and this didn’t inconvenience her for the full night.
Location is great as we were going to Chessington World of Adventure. I forgot my own hairdryer in the room and the lady at reception was so helpful to sort this problem. She also recommended great options for dinner on the night of our stay. We would definitely stay there again.

AustraliaIt is value for money so I take this into account when noting the property is not the most up to date. We picked this place to get easy rail access to London, and the trip in to Liverpool St Station was quite quick but the train doesn't depart from there at night, so that added more than an hour to our return trip
Handy and well priced option near London. We had a ground floor room which was helpful with heavy suitcases

United KingdomWhen I stayed the nighttime temperature was 19°c. The room was not air-conditioned and required the windows to be left fully open to lower the room temperature. Wouldn’t be an issue except for the freak September weather we were experiencing. The Hotel entrance from the main road is very hard to spot, particularly in the dark. It is some way on from the Google maps position and is actually the main road entrance to Sandown race course . (These are minor points though!)
Excellent location In Esher. Very friendly staff. Good sized clean rooms. Good continental breakfast.

United KingdomA cooked breakfast would always be a preferred option for us. However, there was plenty to eat from the continental selection. A minor comment. A small box of tissues available in the room would be welcome
The room was clean and modern. Shower excellent. The lady on reception was really lovely. So welcoming, friendly and helpful. She has been there on our two separate visits.

NetherlandsIt's was not my preffered place to stay but all other hotels in the neigbourhood where fully booked. The hotel meets all qualifiers to be a good hotel, but i was not very much feeling at home. Spacious room with good television. Bathroom was a bit small but recently renuwed and clean. The bed was fine.

United KingdomAmazing staff, receptionist was the loveliest and so helpful - sole reason I will be staying again. The room was a standard double and met my needs, got everything I paid for. Felt secure, phone numbers of relevant people were clearly displayed if ever in need. Breakfast was nice - cereal, toast, yogurt, variety of croissants, juices and jams available. The coffee was superb! Right next door to town - 5 mins walk to Tesco and local restaurants. Less than a mile away from the station and of course a minute walk to the entrance of Sandown Racecourse. My new fave place to stay in Esher.

United KingdomWe stayed here to visit RHS Wisley, the Hampton Court Flower Show and Kew Gardens. It was a good location for that purpose as we had a car and could drive to all destinations. Parking was free. We noted several groups were staying there for the Flower Show. The hotel itself is a bit dated and is basic but more than satisfactory for our needs as we used it as a dormitory really. The breakfasts were continental buffet style, but gave a good basic level of choice. The staff were attentive and happy to help. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Esher high street, where we found several venues ofr food in the evenings. Tthough not cheap for the standard, this proved to be a good choice for our needs.
