Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomwe found the room very hot overnight. Granted we stayed in mid August, but a small fan in the room would have been a godsend.
The property had lots of historical character. we also thought the staff were brilliant, including Fred who was on hand to give us a warm welcome. Breakfast was included and was delicious.

United Kingdomhaving dining tables in the reception hall and would have preferred to have had breakfast in the restaurant
The restaurant was not open as such so dinner was either in the reception hall ( very strange) in bedroom or outside seating. I choose outside because the weather was very good. The food and service was very good.

United KingdomIt isn't really a dislike but I was surprised at the high price of drinks with dinner. A very small sparkling water and a 275/330ml lager were popular London prices and not what I was expecting compared to other places I have visited in the area. It would have put me off eating their with my family as my two youngish children would have easily drunk over £18 worth of sparkling water....
The full English breakfast was lovely and included black pudding (unlike some of the other places nearby). I also ate dinner there the night before and the food was terrific. My room was nice and large, clean and had everything that I needed. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful.

United KingdomDifficult to identify anything we didn't like without it sounding like 'nit-picking'. I suppose it would have been helpful to have had a waste bin, but I think the lack of one was a 'carry-over' from first opening after Covid 19 restrictions, so understandable. Other than that everything was to our liking.
The welcome of the hosts was exceptional and their general easy going manner, but efficient eye for details was really appreciated by us. They were very friendly and very informative about local attractions, as well as genuinely interested in what we were doing for our stay and where we were going. It felt like home form home, but with a professional touch. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Fred, the dog, also made us welcome!

United KingdomRestaurant was not open so evening meals and breakfasts for guests only available on tables set up in small reception area that felt like a walk through. Very little atmosphere. No curtains in the room so woke very early.
The host was very warm and friendly. The food was lovely and good value.

We stayed here for a week and it was one of our best hotel experiences. The former schoolhouse has kept its charming features. The spacious and clean room had traditional furniture. It contained tea and coffee facilities and overlooked the opposite hills. We could choose between 4 different sorts of excellent breakfast. The meals we ordered for lunch were exquisite. As far as we are concerned, they deserve a star! On top of everything there was Karen who was so genuinely interested in everything we did and who gave us all the information we asked for (and more😊) In short: the hosts went above and beyond to make our stay perfect!

United KingdomThe first floor had a slight 'smokey' smell - not so much in the room but on the landing
Karen on arrival was lovely, very accommodating and helpful. Fred the dog was beautiful and friendly!! Our room was clean and comfortable. The beds were nice and soft and had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was served to our door on time and all hot and delicious. My daughter had pancakes and there was more then enough and she enjoyed every last mouthful of them. The english breakfast was perfectly cooked, and good portions. Overall a great stay and would visit again. Thank you

United KingdomSchoolhouse Restaurant and Hotel is on the direct east west cycle route from Swindon to Malmesbury and beyond, making it a very convenient overnight stop, especially as secure overnight parking for our long tandem bicycle was easily provided. The bed was very comfortable and the dinner and breakfast very good. The old school is a listed building and the hotel extension is a sympathetic addition.

United KingdomThe room was a bit cold as temperatures were well below freezing at night, but we were supplied with an additional electric heater.
The dinner was exceptional. Very varied, lots of choices and each dish we had was excellent. This food would not be out of place at a top-rated restaurant and they were definitely some of the best meals we have had in a long time. We were the only diners for 2 quiet nights in January and the chef took the trouble to produce a completely different menu for us on the second night - impressive, given that we could happily have eaten anything on either menu. Breakfast was also very good and generous portions. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and pay attention to detail - an excellent stay all round.

United KingdomThe only down side was , you had breakfast in your room, left outside the door. lovely cooked breakfast, but after been locked in with the pandemic, you really feel a bit isolated from people and just to be able to have a change of room to sit in. I wouldn't want to do that again. Also no bar area to relax in, so although nice people and Freddie the dog was adorable.
The Breakfast was very good! We had an evening meal, which we couldn't afford every night, but really worth having, it was excellent, the best meal out ive had for years!!
