How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The duvet cover was dirty it was after 1.00am when we went to bed so didn’t notice until then and thought it was too late to mention it to staff.
The waiting staff were great, friendly and helpful. The waitress in the morning was really nice and friendly.

Heat in room was way to warm ,could turn it off but still very warm ,breakfast was wasn't great and you wouldn't want to be in a hurry, dosent start till 8am we ordered again 8am and didn't receive till 8.45am ,and we were under pressure to get to a event ,menu service and only allowed 1 choice off menu as I heard someone ask for porridge and fruit bowl ,bug told only allowed 1

I didn’t like when I had to pay an extra £50 on arrival for security, that was part of my spending money. I didn’t like finding a length of toilet roll paper beside the bed. I didn’t like being wakened at 1:00am by the smoke alarm going off in our room and I didn’t like being told by the receptionist that she didn’t control the fire alarms when I reported it, as for the toilet paper she didn’t seem interested. The hotel was good and we have used it many times but on this occasion the front of house staff let it down.
The breakfast was good and the restaurant staff were very nice and very helpful.

A residents bar would have been a nice touch.

Everything was perfect but the girl at the reception wasn’t very friendly and made us feel unwelcome. But apart from that it was a 10/10 stay

The room was too warm and we couldn't open a window as we were on the ground floor. Breakfast- it was unusual that a bowl of fruit was considered a main breakfast meal and you could only have one choice from the breakfast menu. All other hotels in our experience offer fruit bowl as a starter and in addition you can choose a hot breakfast from the menu.
It was very convenient as we were attending the South Lake Leisure Centre and also the Skii Centre.

Friendly staff on reception, in the bar and at breakfast. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with all accessories fully functioning. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms were very spacious. I would also like to commend the customer service of the staff for their response in handling a situation whereby there was an error in the charging for my stay.

The rooms were very hot but it good to see we could regulate the heat ourselves.

Although breakfast was included. We had an early flight and had to leave before breakfast 8:00. We were unable to enjoy what I expect would have been a good breakfast.

Perhaps being ladies of a certain age! It was at times a little too warm. But adjustments could be made.
It was comfortable, relaxed, homely with good and attentive staff who were friendly and welcoming. The food and service was excellent.

Room was very hot and stuffy, bedsheets a bit scratchy
Breakfast options were top notch, irish bacon delicious. Lovely staff at breakfast. Shower pressure excellent and loved the heated towel racks. There are a couple restaurants with a large array of food options (although if you are looking for healthy not much there)
