Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFinding the property was quite a challenge but get there eventually. The entrance door to the room was quite difficult to close without slamming. The bathroom another thing, firstly the water flow from the shower was very poor, water pressure dropped drastically. The ceiling vent was very dusty, there was a hole located near the toilet waste pipe. There was mold on the window rims inside the room.
The property during my stay met my standard, got to see a nice view of farm fields with sheep’s and hearing birds singing. The room spacious but can’t complain. And at breakfast the host was very friendly and her friendly pet dog made my mornings during my breakfast.

United KingdomWe had a lovely two night stay at the Seven Stars. We had a comfortable room at the front of the building, which is situated right in the heart of Hay-on-Wye and very handy for the bookshops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Di gave us a warm and knowledgable welcome, along with her very friendly dog Captain. Big, tasty breakfasts fuelled us for our days out. This B & B was a 16th Century inn and as you would expect this introduces some quirks to the layout and features of the building. And... it has a swimming pool! This is a fantastic feature for such a small establishment. It's fully heated, indoors and a great size for a leisurely swim when the bookshops have lost their lustre. There is secure and free parking on site- it's a tight turn if the traffic is busy, but plenty of spaces once you're through the entryway. Good value and very much recommended.

United KingdomI know it was mentioned that there were new cleaning staff hired so perhaps they are just getting used to it, but the room wasn’t as clean as it maybe could have been. We’re not a fussy couple but we did find lots of dust, hair/crumbs in the bedside drawer and someone’s old receipt next to the bed. We will definitely come back and have nothing but positive feedback but I felt this was important to share :)
Great location, lovely welcoming staff and you really get a good value for money. Breakfasts are great and we enjoyed our stay. Simple hotel that does what you need it to.

United KingdomNothing to do with the Seven Stars - but I should have researched local taxis before arriving. One other factor - if you have mobility issues then the different levels might be a challenge.
Location is perfect for all the Hay attractions plus walks along the river which is just around the corner. Fabulous breakfast with a highlight being the black pudding - excellent coffee. We had room 6 which could easily have take an adventurous family as there was a double bed & two singles - up three flights of stairs. Bathroom more than adequate. We arrived by taxi from Hereford for a wedding - so no need to use the parking. But getting a taxi to go to Brilley was a problem - Di & Jes tried valiantly to book one - in the end Di the owner took us to the Church in Brilley ( Thank you so much for such a delightful gesture) But that is Di & her friendly crew - just lovely people looking after their guests.

GermanyThe service staff was so friendly. Lovely little bed and breakfast with a great price-value-ratio. We had room number 7 with a beautiful view. The Seven Stars even has a pool you can really swim in. For a bed and breakfast of this size this is remarkable. We enjoyed it.

United KingdomBecause the room was quite small it would be helpful to have a little extra storage, like coat hooks or more coat hangers etc. Also there was no door mat which meant the floors got wet and dirty really quickly from us coming inside (rainy weekend) - didn't effect our stay at all, just a recommendation to make the room even better
We had a lovely little room attached to the back of the indoor pool so we were able to get private access which was amazing. The room was small but nice, it was always quite humid in there which was to be expected being attached to the pool! Breakfast was delicious, staff were great and helpful and made a fuss of our pooch. Location in Hay was brilliant, close to everything needed

United KingdomThe pool was nice but they've been hampered by healthy and safety regs so, through no fault of their own, it is rather restricted to use.
