Would have liked a fold away stool to ease the climb up to the bed(I am a short person) and maybe a hand rail to the out side steps. Also better signage from the road to see where you have to turn into the property in the dark

The bed was very comfortable and the hut was really cosy. A lovely place to relax in.

Such a cosy and comfortable space with everything you need. The info book said to try and use the log burner as much as possible to heat the cabin, with everything provided to do this it certainly did the trick and added to the overall experience. The kitchen area is well stocked with tea, coffee and sugar as well as all the equipment you need to cook a proper meal. There is no TV provided which from reading the guest book is an area for contention among some guests but this did not bother us in the slightest! It was a nice break away from it and in the mornings it was nice to sit in the chairs with a coffee, log burner firing, looking out onto the hill view and listening to the birds. There is Wi-Fi available which works really well and the hosts provide board games, a lap top and DVD’s should you wish to watch. We enjoyed looking through the extensive book collection, some of which were very amusing! The outside space was just as lovely with fire pit and outside lighting listening to the water and wildlife in front of the fire on an evening was perfect. Hosts were on hand should you need anything but also respects the privacy of your stay, leaving some additional fire lighters on the doorstep for us. They also left some milk and some cold beer in the fridge for our arrival! An ideal location is only 45mins from Bristol and plenty of woodland walks minutes away. Puzzle wood was a particular highlight only 15min away. The Lion, one of the local pubs, served delicious food and friendly service only 5min drive away.

Please consider having a hairdryer for guests and some kitchen towels and foil to use the oven and a container where to put items for recycling. Thanks.

The property was well equipped considering it's location and size. So comfortable and cozy for people who just wanted to unwind, be off the grid and reconnect with nature.

    Nothing.

The hut is so well equipped with thoughtful touches from the owners such as milk, tea, coffee, sugar, beers etc. It's beautifully decorated with fantastic 70's touches here and there and the location is beautiful and so peaceful with stunning walks on the doorstep and many wonderful places to visit in the surrounding area. We particularly loved Tintern Abbey (walkable if you are feeling energetic), Puzzelwood and Chepstow. We also walked from Symonds Yat East to Symonds Yat rock via a suspension bridge across the Wye which is an absolute must-do! We didn't eat out at all so were fully self-catering. The hut is so well equipped for this, I found the hob a bit temperamental but that was probably just user error (there are instructions but I didn't read them). The area is well covered for supermarkets, there's a Lidl just outside Monmouth (about 10 minutes drive) and a Tesco and M&S in Chepstow (about 15 minute drive). The local Abbey Mill shop is also well stocked with local meats and some frozen goods - the hut has a small freezer box in the fridge. There is no TV but the hosts have provided a laptop and DVD's and there are plenty of books and a board game. To be honest, it's enough to sit outside with the fairy lights on, listening to the owls hooting! There is a fire pit, but we didn't use it and due to the fact that we stayed during the heatwave, we didn't need the wood burner in the hut either! Overall we loved our stay and will definitely be returning.

We arrived when it was getting dark and missed turning into premises. Maybe a slightly more prominent or luminated signpost would be good.

Beautiful hut in lovely country side . Quiet, peaceful and very relaxing. Everything you needed was supplied, even down to a well stocked herb and spice rack. The space was very well laid out with full size oven and fridge !!!!. Well worth every penny.

To be fair there was nothing we didn't like but it is quite a walk into the village so ideal if you want peace and quiet as we did but you might need to drive to eat or drink out

Tiny but well equipped and very comfortable. Firepit and outdoor area was lovely and if it had rained the woodburner inside would have been really cosy

    That we didn't stay longer

Shepherds Delight is an amazing, well designed shepherds hut in beautiful surroundings with everything needed to make your stay perfect. The location is great for breathtaking walks and not too far to walk for Tintern Abbey. A gorgeous log burner is perfect for those chilly evenings with plenty of wood, or there's an outdoor firepit for those long summer evenings.

I wanted a few days peace and quiet to myself, and this was perfect. The owner has done everything to create a simple but comfortable and cosy retreat. I didn't leave the hut once in three days #hermitlife. But it's also a great base if you're exploring the area. Tintern is lovely, and there are a few walking and bike trails in the area. Checking in is simple: park a few yards away and retrieve the keys from the lockbox. The interior was exceptionally clean and tidy, with all the basics you need - including a couple of bottles of local beer waiting for you in the fridge. (Good stuff, by the way.) There's a couple of chairs, two barstools and of course the bed. Comfy bed, too, with storage below. The usual kitchen utensils plus kettle, oven, cooktop, and fridge. No microwave or dishwasher but you won't miss them. You'll be happy washing your dishes by hand watching the horse in the field across the drive. Bathroom is small, as you'd expect. But how much time are you going to be spending in there anyway? There's a small log burner, with firelighters, kindling and logs provided. Like every other log burner, it throws out a ton of heat and it heats up the hut very quickly. There's also an electric panel radiator if you don't want to use the burner. The radiator alone with keep you warm. Most important, of course - wifi! The hut is out in the sticks, but the speed (about 6MB/s, sometimes faster) was plenty for video calls and streaming video. Mobile connection is patchy, but if you've got wifi calling on your phone, you're golden. Next time I want some time to myself, I'd definitely come here again. Might do a bit of exploring next time. Might just stay in. Again.
