Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceIt was all good, though it is out of the city so you need a car.
It was a delight to stay at Sherbrooke Castle Hotel. The staff were all gracious and helpful. The castle is full of character, nice communal space and decor. It is also in a green and quiet neighbourhood.

United KingdomWhen we first arrived the bar staff were not very attentive. I would have liked a flannel and body lotion in the room
Lovely room. Fiona who greeted us when we arrived was superb, providing us with advice and restaurant ideas. There was a wedding at the hotel which was lovely but didn't impact our stay. A happy time and fab room. Thanks

United StatesSince the ambiance of a castle was lacking (dishes, furniture, rooms), we decided not to eat breakfast there for the $15 charge.
Beautiful villa on the heritage list but really not a castle. Rooms are modern with huge bathrooms and comfy beds. Ask for a traditional room if you want the "castle" feel and look. Dinner was delicious and the staff friendly and very helpful.

United KingdomBedroom and bathroom were really big, some how finishing (i.e carpet) hasnt been done properly! Not enough hanger A bottle of water in the fridge would be nice TV/smart TV signal were very poor, rather not have a TV in the room at all if it couldn't be operated!!! Somehow, there was a double charge on one of the bill and deposit, but in the end we had it refund
Great big room with very comfortable bed Dinner was good for my husband but mine (fish was off and bad smell) We dint have breakfast as we left hotel very early in the morning

United KingdomNo fridge in the room. Difficult when you need to store medication. Smokers at the wedding reception gathered outside the front door to the hotel. In the morning the place was strewn with fag ends.
The dining room was good and made every effort to accommodate a gluten free diet (although puddings were very limited).

United KingdomOk, my only issue was the pillows! The ones provided on the beds were basically the size of a small hill and firm as Hell, pretty sure one pillow would last a life time but my neck lasted about 10 minutes. On routing through the wardrobe however, I found a bag with spares! And they were much thinner and softer but I think they had been in there a while as they didn't smell too fab so I just changed the pillow covers over, upon doing this I did find a lipstick print on the pillow case so maybe give some a boil wash but I wasn't going to complain about something so small so just got on with it!
A really lovely building! I'd looked at some pictures but wasn't expecting it to be so lovely, the grounds were exceptionally maintained as well as inside, it managed to keep some of the older aspects of the building but have all the mod cons and amenities one would expect from staying at moderately priced hotel. The rooms were large and spacious and our bathroom could fit a small army in it! It was tidy and well presented and the complimentary products were all great quality! Staff were lovely and had no issue with our myriad of questions, they got us checked in and out promptly and were very attentive when we used the restaurant and bar. I would recommend trying out the restaurant for a quiet evening meal! It's small and quaint and the food and service was excellent. Location is a bonus too, we had a car so were able to drive to surrounding areas such as Glasgow and Loch Lomond which was fab and we were told it was close to a train station that would take you into Glasgow as well which is a positive if you do not drive there. The area itself was nice and quiet and it was close to a lot of restaurants and local bars if you wanted to spend the evening out but not head into the city.

United KingdomStaff were super lovely, especially in the restaurant and bar where they went out of their way to knock up some nice drinks for us after not having some ingredients for the ones we'd initially asked for - thanks heaps! Large bedrooms with clean, modern bathrooms, and just five minutes on the train to Dumbreck from Glasgow.

United KingdomThere was a bit of a mix up at reception when we arrived to check in but the manager (Claire) sorted everything out very professionally. We ordered tea and scones once we were checked in and while the scones were tasty, they were also tiny.
The food was excellent - I think the breakfast was the best we had ever tasted! The junior suite was spacious, comfortable, quiet and very homely. The staff were attentive, friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in ensuring we had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is in a nice location and architecturally very striking.

United KingdomIn the morning there was no water in two rooms we stayed in. We were going to funeral and we were unable to get washed and shaved. I informed receptionist about the problem, who went to check our rooms and confirmed there was no water. She informed me that the problem was going to be fixed sometimes pm. No other option to get washed was offered and we were forced to attend funeral in rather scruffy state. We have never experienced such problem in any hotels, we stayed in. Definitely NOT four star hotel.
